We can get coffee and sit in Alamo Square across the street.
Over time, those who are active on the forum often move on, as other things
in life can take over. I love it that new posters join the discussion and become
active forum members. I think that the welcoming environment helps a lot.

I‘m on Facebook in some of the dooney groups. Lot of activity there. I understand. I love it here. And I know there’s so much info and eye candy in the archives here. Definitely worth going back to the beginning. I hope it never fades here. I didn’t know the purse forum existed until 2023… smh

Lots of sharing and activity. I asked about the material of that quilted bag there, and folk pulled out theirs, explained what material it was, and really seemed to enjoy. Said it was an oldie but goodie.One lady said she bought hers in 2012. They have fun contests, trivia and giveaways. Plenty of eye candy. they also sell in a couple of the groups. I’ve never bought from there tho.
The Florentine Large Domed Satchel in Black has arrived.
I wanted to give my first impressions. This is the bag that looks like
a large zip zip with a zipper across the front and thin handles that
do not have any hardware.
In black, the bag is very understated and a bit boring, due to the
lack of gold hardware and lack of trim. I like the size and the function
and it's not overly heavy. The 1/2" wide detachable long strap is 3 part so it can
be shoulder or cross body.
The leather is pliable and the look of the bag will not remain crisp over time
since it's top heavy (zipper, handles). I'm sure it will tend to slouch as the
leather softens.
To me the bag is very functional and laid back without being overly casual.
I can see using this bag on an everyday basis. It's more buttoned up than
a tote or hobo, and big enough for a lot of stuff. But it doesn't read
elegant like an Alto leather bag. I hand carry my bags.
To sum it up... in black, this is an old lady bag. The pebbled leather one
I have in a vibrant spearmint color does not give off that same vibe.
So the combination of the color and the style is the reason for my reaction.
I think there are better styles if you want a black Florentine handbag.
I also ordered the navy before I had seen the black in person .Yes, that
breaks my own rule, but I did it anyway since I already had this style
in a different leather/color. I'll let you know what I think about the navy
when it arrives. The red zipper tape may make all the difference.

@lavenderjunkie Thanks for the detailed review. I honestly love Dooney Florentine in black, but I can't seem to carry a black bag more than a day or two and I'm back to my red or other colors.

I completely get this. I’ve been going back and forth on purchasing this bag. But I can’t push the checkout button. It really reminds me of one the purses my nonna had.
Thanks for your review of this bag. I had a case of insomnia last night, and was up comparing the Flo and PG domed satchels. I agree the PG ones don’t give off that vibe either, they have more robust colors.
