I know this is a no judgement forum and I don't mind expressing my opinion or reading the opinions of others. I'm always comfortable saying how I feel. I've met some wonderful ladies in this forum.
The ladies here are great. you all don’t get catty when questions are asked. I was somewhere and I was new to the forum site and I thought this was the best thing since sliced bread. I hadn’t bought a bag since before the pandemic. I was excited and my enthusiasm could not be curbed. I’ll never forget the way I felt when I was sarcastically talked down to. Hold on a second…. Zzzzzzt the needle scratched on the record, who they talking to?

I try to be respectful and I’ve found communication here with such ease. I don’t feel dumb asking questions here. Everyone is very helpful and give freely their knowledge and experience. It’s awesome and very relaxing here. I can live here LOL I moved right on in…

I’m not a fan of the corners. That extra leather looks good but the way it sticks out I would really worry about corner wear. Not to mention the weight of the extra Florentine folded on the corners. And I love tassels. Where are they? I HATE it when people cut them off and want to sell the bag for unreasonable prices… the bag is altered, no thank you.
I do understand everyone doesn’t like tassels, so I guess this one is for them.

Now talk to me about that fabulous Florentine hobo… I am here for that bag in chestnut, yes please and thank you. Uh Santa I’ve been okay I guess lol
Oh sorry - I missed this post
"Not to mention the weight of the extra Florentine folded on the corners." I guess some extras like tassels were removed due to the added weight of the foldovers.

I had 2 of the Florentine Savanah satchels when they were originally released.
I liked the look and the design. However, the white edging became an issue.
It would stick to the sides of the bag when the handles were folded down,
and pull off the dye from the bag. Also the white edging on the handles
and elsewhere picked up color (transfer) from clothing, handling, etc).
The contrast of the white edging against darker leather was very stricking,
but at least at that time, the execution had some problems..

I was wondering if the white would stay white.

It looks thick. Is this one of the older line or the newer, I know they brought this style back. I was just wondering if this was that older thick thick Florentine leather. I love it.
I really can't answer that - old vs. the new. It is thick & it does not shine up with conditioner the way the the regular florentine satchels do, however I still love it. One day when I have the Savannah & my flo satchels out I will do a comparison. I still haven't changed out bags cause I truly want to carry the Dipinta BUT not until I spot paint that little naked loop that I can't help but zero in on. Three different stores plus the shoe shop did not carry Acrylus leather paint, so I had to order from Amazon (which I try not to do). It is still on its way.

I have had the pleasure of meeting up with a few women in this forum and the previous forum I was in. One in particular has become a friend for life.
If you're ever in Vegas at the same time I'm here, or in San Francisco when I'm home, please message me in advance and we can try to meet up at the Vegas outlet or somewhere for coffee in San Francisco.

That's okay. I'll deal with it - and at my age they will most likely outlast me.

I LOVE this, Rue! :hugs:

We’re all here in this forum for a reason, our appreciation and love of all things D&B. Doesn’t mean we have to like the same styles. I absolutely hated D&B bags in early 2000s, when they hired Lindsay as the face of the brand. I know they were trying to target that young demographic, and they succeeded. Even though I was part of that demographic, they were just awful looking to me. Even Coach at that time too, with all the C’s everywhere - NOPE!

I don’t much prefer the coated bags either; but some of those Disney bags are absolutely adorable!

Majority of everyone here are seasoned in their expertise of leather and brand, and I completely respect that. I’m kind of a late bloomer to handbags; staying at home raising the kiddos, I used a Filson & Kipling backpack for years. My appreciation for vintage D&B led me here. And seeing everyone post their newer style bags, piqued my interest.

Now, back to Florentine. Thank you Rue & Lily, for pointing out the corners. That was something that never crossed my mind. Because I soooooo want the pebble/flo collab satchels (I posted a new arrivals thread last night). And seeing the corners on those bags now too, oh hell they’re gonna be a suction for dirt and everything in between. If I got one of them, I might even find a few crayons in them from my 5 year old, LOL! Looking at those satchels, I think they should have switched it, flo throughout and pebble grain for the corners, because the corners are the one that take the brunt of wear & tear throughout the day.

May your Dooney’s be as lovely, as you all are!

This has been a great forum for handbag lovers. Everyone tries to share info as well as
opinion, without making it personal. Every one of us had to learn what we know today,
and we got that knowledge from experiences and the help of others. No one is born knowing everything. And we all seem to accept that someone can be really smart and
and expert at some things, but still be learning about others... like handbags. And even
those of us with years of buying/owing Dooneys realize that we don't know it all,
even about this one brand.

Besides, most of us seem to love chatting about handbags, sharing what we know,
and in the process, learning even more. And what I really love about most of the posts
is that people try to put their opinion in perspective.... even if the bag has a defect or
a fault, they try to position it. For example, the strap might be too long (but they point out they are short) but still love the bag and just wish the strap were adjustable or removeable, etc. We know that everyones needs and budgets are different.
That's why information rather than just opinion makes this such a great
place.

so I took a white acrylic pen made for leather art & fixed it.
Being here has also opened up a passion and hobby for me. Restoring the vintage bags. I’m currently working on 2 vintage coach bags (9063 & 9919). I’ve got some acrylic paint coming today, and I need to head to Michael’s to get some fabric mender.

I love doing this, and it’s a stress reliever for me.
