Does anyone use Poshmark?

I used to sell on Poshmark and have stopped after a bad experience. I sold a brand-new Coach bag and the buyer decided to open a dispute and say that there was animal hair in the bag (I don't own any animals and never used the bag). Photos she sent showed nothing. I think it was buyer's remorse. Well, Poshmark ruled in the buyer's favor and the bag was returned to me. No hair, no fuzz, nothing was inside of the bag. I wound up gifting it to a friend. I don't like Poshmark and agree they often always rule in the buyer's favor. Terrible company.
Ugh sorry that happened - I would never try to sell on there again after my experience and all the experiences I have read from the sellers perspective.

Yes, I also feel it's a red flag. That's why I haven't accepted her offers. I feel she will be mad now that I never accepted her low ball offer. I will block her now. I just don't have time to deal with problem buyers.

two lowball offers are a red flag, I'd block. if they accept your counter even if it's below your comfort zone and you lose money, they would open a case for fake reason. that's bec they never intended to pay that amount and want the item for free/almost for free.
I'd block her after 2nd lowball.
I had blocked this buyer. Then I had another brand new buyer make an offer for the same amount. I blocked her. Last night another buyer made an offer on this same item. I declined. Then she makes another offer and I ignored it and less than 20 minutes later she just purchases this item at the listed price. I messaged her and thanked her for her purchase. Didn't hear anything back from her. She also hasn't left anyone feedback. Now I'm thinking I might just cancel. She might be related to the two other low ballers. Not sure what I'm going to do yet.

I just cancelled this order for this dress, since this buyer never once responded to my messages, has left no feedback for anyone in the 2 years on PM. I cannot deal with another awful buyer. PM needs to understand that it's very stressful as a seller when you are selling brand new designer items. I personally purchased my items at Saks, Neiman Marcus and boutiques. I do not buy used or new items to resell. These are all from my personal closet. I don't want to just sell my items to anyone. How do I know I can trust them? They can lie, damage item, bait and switch. I will not accept any offer with buyers that I feel uneasy about. BTW I'm still waiting for the other $700 jacket that I shipped to VA last month! Its been 11 days today and PM still has not helped me. They will not release my funds. This buyer was just on PM last night and again this morning. She will not even respond to my messages or pick up the jacket. I sent a screenshot of this buyers account which shows the date and time that she was last on PM. I have not blocker her yet. I will as soon as I get my gorgeous jacket back. I cannot believe I'm being treated like this. I want my jacket shipped back to me now. PM is making me wait until 3/20 now. Jerks. Does PM not realize they are only making $$$$$$$$ buy us sellers???? If they did not have sellers they would not make $$$$

There is no reason to have you wait for this long, I would contact Poshmark again have them release the funds.

please keep us updated.

Thank you. I can't believe it. After 15 days of waiting the buyer picked up the jacket. She now has 3 days to accept it. They said they will ask her to accept it right away. I just hope she's not upset now and damages the jacket. Hopefully she will be a sane buyer and will keep it. If she's does open a return she would probably do it at the last second. Still no communication from her. She has been a nightmare buyer.

I feel compelled to post something positive about Poshmark. Recently I had two sales and a purchase. First sale was a new buyer with no history. She never accepted it but after the three days, I got my money.
Second sale was perfect - accepted right away and gave me five stars.
Purchase took three days before shipping but shipped fast, in great condition and packaged very nicely.

That's great. I also sold 4 more items and got paid the same day. All 4 buyers accepted and left perfect feedback. 90% of the time PM is wonderful, but as we all know there are scammers and terrible buyers

I always worry to an extent. I was stressing out for those few days esp about the one buyer. I've never had a bad experience with Posh - knock on wood.

Even if you don't file as a business but rather report it as a sale of personal property (it is more time consuming though as you will have enter every sale transaction separately on the tax return - similar to stock sales), you can also deduct your cancellations and your selling expenses (aka Posh commission, sales taxes that Posh pays on your behalf). You are taxed on the profit your make on your sales - not the gross amount (provided you can substantiate your cost with appropriate documentation/receipts). You will pay capital gains tax on the profit that you generate in such case. If you report it as a business, then it would be part of the ordinary income.
I'm mad. I already paid my accountant $350 before i got my 1099K. I emailed him the next day when I found out about the 1099K form. I wanted to see if he can cancel the efile or update it. He said to just wait until I get my 1099K and he will refile my taxes. He now says I either owe $10,000 if I mark this as a business or I can go through each sale and mark the one's that I made a profit on. He said I cannot take out the 20% commission that PM makes, I can't take out the shipping fees, or the cancelled and refunded items. What!!!!It was not a business. All of the clothes I'm selling are clothes I bought between 2019 and 2023. I bought them for myself. I'm selling them now, because I have way too many clothes. The majority of the items I've taken a loss on. Now he's saying I owe him another $350 to resubmit new taxes. BTW I feel he's taking advantage of me by charging another $350! He could have easily cancelled the first e file of my taxes. Advise please?

If was me,1. I would give him whatever the fee he is charging you to file the tax (at this for this year). 2. Go find every transaction, records of each sale you made and gave him to file as personal not business, 3. You may want to consider selling less, much less or even not selling from now on because it may bring you more trouble than benefit ( looks like from what I reading your posts through this year).

Thank you for your great advice on the taxes. I will pay him the second fee of $350. I already paid it in Feb, when he submitted my taxes. I didn't realize until the next day or two that I was going to get a 1099K from PM. I was hoping he could have just cancelled that first efile. He said he has to now refile. I agree about filing as personal, since it wasn't business.90% of my sales have been wonderful. I have had 10% or less of buyers that were a problem. I have to sell my clothes. I have way too many. 90% are new with tags. I will just sell less items and will take a bigger loss. There's no way I will get the $795 price I paid for a lot of these jackets. It's better to get something $ back. My accountant also said the state of CA takes 9% out of our sales and the Gov takes 33% on every sale!!! So maddening. I wish there was no 1099k for internet sales.
