I'm not sure the logo "made in italy" can confirm authenticity unless its purchased from boutiques and major dept stores.

I'm also not surprised if authentic Gucci bags are actually made in China but labelled as "made in Italy". Business always try to cut cost as much as possible. So, having fatory in China may help to cut cost significantly. But, I'm not affected so much by this (if indeed its true), cos' I'll keep buying Gucci if they keep producing quality handbags regardless of where it is made.

Yes, I've heard that many designer brand items are made in china but they get sent back to italy for example so they can put the 'made in italy' tag on it. As much as I don't want to believe that's true, it's hard to say and it does indeed cut the costs of production by a lot so I don't see how it's not possible.

I get so p---off with these threads on wear bags are made... If a bag is made in China it does not mean the bag is bag quality or that the Designer does not should not get a good price for there goods.. Coach has been made in Chain of over 15 years and eveytime one of these threads come up it is like they just moved there and yes there prices have increase and so has everyone else's... In addition Coach sells very well..

Now Gucci it made in Italy and the bags are amazing and I do not understand why anyone thinks that Gucci has moved it factories..

i have a gucci bag and the screws keep coming out of the fixtures i lost one screw it is the new spring gucci and it is colorful and beautiful any one know where i can order a screw

Made in Italy is an integral part of the essence of Gucci and goes beyond being a mere slogan. It is a cultural approach, a know-how that took generations to build, and a genuine mission that has allowed Gucci to become one of the world’s most desirable luxury fashion brands.

Even today Gucci remains very much linked to Italy’s Tuscan region as it did ninety years ago when Guccio Gucci first created his first leather bag.
Since the opening of its original workshop in Florence on Via delle Caldaie, and throughout its expansion in the Seventies and Eighties into new headquarters at Casellina, outside of Florence, the House continues to grow its strong relationship with its home territory.

Today, Gucci’s Made In Italy production coupled with a strong social responsibility towards its employees ensures that 100% of its leather goods, shoes and ready to wear are still produced in its Florence workshops, employing over 45,000 people in Italy alone, in addition to Gucci’s own employees. This handcrafted legacy passed down through generations of artisan families, continues to be an immense source of pride for Gucci and has made a huge contribution to its position as a worldwide leader in the luxury business.

Thanks for posting. It doesn't get much more cut and dry than this. Case closed as far as I am concerned.
