Does anyone feel like VCA is everywhere now?

Ok, so I read your question wrong, lol. I read where and that was it lol and mentioned where because I thought maybe you had seen the same lady at the same place.

To answer your question correctly, yes they were staggered at different lengths and it worked really well on her.
Lol my iPhone spelling is the worst with the autocorrect. I am thinking it might work but I only have two pendants and one is butterfly so I can’t experiment but now I need to see this. It seems like a casual easy look.

I don’t keep anything at home, but next time I go to the bank, I’ll get my pendants and stagger and send you a photo.

The snobbery in some of these comments and not so subtle micro aggressions…

So sorry this soccer mom dares to where a “luxury” good. So sorry that rappers are flexing their VCAs. Must be so hard to share a style with the plebes.

Gross takes.
I didn't read the comments as micro aggressions towards the soccer moms, rappers and sorority girls wearing VCA. The comments simply state that VCA has become an incredibly popular status symbol and something that is commonly worn in many circles.

I don't think the purpose is to gate-keep or attack the people wearing VCA, whoever they are. It's a statement about the brand's prevalence that has certainly skyrocketed.

I see it often in my city but with the lack of inventory in my home boutique, I am wondering if these purchases are made overseas as there are never any stock available. :confused1: Yes, I do see it out in the wild but do I see it everywhere, no. Does it bother me that I see VCA when I am out, it really doesn't. Sure, I see the Alhambra designs more so than the Perlee, Frivole, Cosmos, etc lines. It hasn't stopped me from wearing and enjoying the pieces I've spent over the years to build in my collection.

It doesn't help that you feel that everyone has the Alhambra sets especially when you see it on SM but I don't think that is real life to me. As someone has commented, not all that wear VCA is authentic. My SA at Nordstrom proudly wore her inspired Alhambra set (I think it was earrings and the pendant in MOP). Did it bother me? Again, no. I still love my authentic VCA MOP set.

*I realized I commented on this thread in 2022.

Precisely. The statement was about the popularity of the brand. No “snobbery” or “micro aggressions” here and it’s unfortunate it was read that way. This is just a discussion on jewelry. People need to not take comments so seriously and make ill founded conclusions.

Agree with this. One should buy whatever they love and can afford. where I live, I see a lot of VCA Alhambra IRL (at restaurants, shops, walking around) I have one VCA six motif magic necklace in GMOP, which I love. I like to wear for travel bc it’s light and comfy, yet the chain feels pretty strong.

if I buy more, I might consider buton d’or or vintage. I haven’t bought anything from Macklowe gallery, but this VCA piece caught my eye. I’d rather have something that I adore that I don’t see as much. JMO of course, and I do love seeing others with their Alhambra, especially the limited pieces. Some members here look amazing in their Alhambra, flower lace, frivole, perlee etc. I also think VCA does the double rings well like the lotus or the frivole.

Exactly. What makes you above every Tom, Dick and Nancy?
I guess it's the Hermes game that trains people's mentality like this.

I don't believe that those into the game just want to be in a common circle or want to be associated with common circles.

Luxury is about aspirations and to lead people to believe that they are special by association. Just look at how vca market their products helping potential buyers to associate with Grace Kelly, and the love story between the family of van cleef and arpels.

I guess the OP who posted the reply was saying that vca is everywhere to the point where the magic of bringing aspiration has been lost. It doesn't seem that she meant only special people wear vca. She might mean vca cannot make one feel special anymore.

Agree. That's how I read it. But, I live in NY where I see a lot of people IRL wearing it. I don’t know who these people are. They could be soccer moms or actors or bankers. But, same with birkins, Chanel RTW, etc. At the end of the day, buy whatever you love and can afford.

For clarification Hermes games haven’t trained my mind of anything. I don’t buy to flex or aspire to be like anyone.

My point is that vca which is a luxury house has some lines that have become mundane and very ordinary so that it’s like the lv neverfull or Gucci marmont. Best example is the vintage line - 5 motif or single pendant. The jewelry is ubiquitous whether real or fake. There is nothing wrong with mundane and ordinary but don’t people buy luxury because it’s unique and special? Something not everyone has? Don’t clients pay more for the name and the quality, but also because it’s something not everyone has? For me, I’m happy to buy mundane and ordinary, but I’m not willing to pay the luxury house prices for mundane and ordinary. Can we all agree that current price points which are the result of these price increases have been and are ridiculous and unjustified for a lot of brands?

Pre pandemic the only times I would see hermes chanel vca etc was really only here on tpf but the pandemic changed things. Now I see a lot of people wearing these items irl. Maybe it’s just where I live. While I can still appreciate the aesthetics of the popular lines these brands carry, I’m less inclined to buy anymore. The Birkin kelly vintage love have become trendy and my personal tastes/likes tend to be anti trendy. I also find many of the influencers flaunting these items in very loud ways which makes me uncomfortable esp living in the murder Capitol of the us.

I have been on tpf for years (even before this account; forgot my other one) but I left a while back because comments were quite catty and people couldn’t just say hey that’s her opinion and not resort to personal attacks. If my comments bother people here, you can simply ignore it like grow ups do. I also really appreciate the ignore feature on tpf. It’s a great feature.

I was talking about people in general.
Anyway, cheers and peace!

It sounds a little strange to say but I'm glad I took it slow with my VCA collection. When I first hopped on the VCA bandwagon, my wishlist was extremely long! I wanted everything as soon as financially possible! However as time passed and as I started seeing more and more on social media, rappers, etc..., my desire to check off the VCA items on the wishlist started to dwindle. I'm glad I didn't go crazy and purchase all those items at that time because now I'm quite happy with my small VCA collection and glad that I didn't spend all my hard earned money on a brand that could become the next Tiffany's.
I don’t think VCA will ever be like Tiffany’s. Most people do not know what VCA is, I feel that a lot of people on this site are delusional and are addicted to the feeling of being special when instead they should appreciate the craftsmanship, which Tiffany’s doesn’t have. VCA is in its own lane of creativity and craftsmanship.
