Splendid! Would you post a step by step guide?

yes i would. the reason for why i would like to share with everyone is because I believe it would benefit everyone if there are before and after photos of bags repaired with special kits such as docride luxury again spa kits. It gives everyone who has a vintage bag an option to fix it yourself without having to wait 6 months for a hermes spa. Will post the updates when i receive my kit!

There is a photo only thread for this if you decide to post pics:

Hello Docride!
I recently bit the bullet and bought a vintage Hermes Birkin HAC in Box Calf leather. Unfortunately upon arrival I noticed that the bag has a few issues including scratching, dryness and a small rub mark. I would love to know if there is anything leather products I can use to bring this bag back to life.

Hey there [emoji3]Can you show me ?
All the best doc

It's like this. I've conditioned the bag itself with the the saphir renovateur. And the bag looks good. Just not sure what to do with the strap.

Another question - is the Saphir renovateur good for togo, clemence and swift leathers?

Dear Docride,

I ordered the Hermes saddle baume and received it today just to see that it contains mineral oil and wax now... I bought it to condition my 17 year old (new to me) Barenia Evelyne as it was the easiest product I could get. I don't mind the leather getting darker, my sole intention is to condition the leather so it will hold up for many more decades. I already applied some H glycerin soap and wiped off the excess.Would you recommend usage of the H saddle baume as it contains mineral oil? I don't know if the formulation was changed since it doesn't seem to contain any seal oil.

Thank you in advance :flowers:

Hi Doc,

Now that I've started my H collection, I wanted to check in with you about the best way to periodically clean/condition/protect my leathers. I usually try to do a basic maintenance treatment on my bags once a year or so, to get rid of grime and to take care of the leather. I've searched through the thread and found some of your previous tips, but wanted to make sure that these care tips are still what you think work best.

Swift: I saw that you've recommended taking care not to overtreat, as the leather can get stretched out/too soft. I saw a few comments that Lexol PH wipes can be used for cleaning and light conditioning. Do you think that's the best product for care of swift?

Epsom: I know this is a rather sturdy leather that shouldn't really need much care. I saw a few comments that Lexol PH wipes or Blackrock can be used. Would you still recommend them, and do you prefer one over the other? Is there anything you'd recommend over them?

Ostrich: I wasn't able to find any previous tips about ostrich, although I think you've said before that for H exotics, you would recommend avoiding home-care and instead spa-ing the bags. Is there anything you'd recommend for period cleaning/care of ostrich?

Thanks so much!!!

Hi,
I just bought a pre- owned double sens from a auction house in sikkim leather. The bag looks ok, but the smell.... it smells like it's have been used as ash tray with an heavy cigarette odor. I don't know if this can be fixed or if I am in the correct thread for this question. I tried to search the forum but could only find posts of the " Hernes smelly bags" from some time ago which is about new bags.
Can anyone help what to do?
Thank you!

Hey there
Condition the strap also
The edges might need the resin redone
That's best done. By the professionals
No I would not use that product on the other leathers you mentioned

Hi Doc!

I recently purchased an Hermes Elan Constance in Rouge Casaque in Epsom. There are a few scratches throughout that don't bug me too much but it does have some rubbing or color loss right below the H clasp. The original owner must have been rough and pressed too much down there. Any tips to deal with that? I'm more worried about how it'll wear over time and want to stop it from getting any worse. I make sure not to rub that part while opening it but just worried about how it'll age. I've attached some photos below. It's hard to capture so I apologize for the repetitive photos but wanted to make sure you could see it. Thanks in advance!
