Hi Doc,
I hope I can get some advice from you:smile:
There's one thing keep happening on my jypsiere everytime after I used.
The metal ring where rubs and touches the hooks on the shoulder strap always create some black stains, like the stains from touching a gate or a lamppost...I need to clean it off every time after i used it or it may stain my shirt. I'm not sure if that's usual with use over the time or it's just mine becomes like that. Is that part of the tarnishing process?

Should I use some metal polish to clean and maintain the hardware?

Except the hardware, the stitching and leather around the D rings are stained heavily... the color of the stitching around there has gone almost white from orange. And some turned black. Is there any way to clean the stain of stitching without taking away the color? (I don't think the Hermes can repair this as I sent it to the spa before)

My last question is, what will you recommend for cleaning the chèvre lining ? I have tried different products on a hidden area, the color came off. So I didn't touch the inside but as time goes by, the orange lining is getting dirty.

Sorry for the rambling...I attached the pictures with my iPhone , hopefully they are good enough  thanks so much ! !:smile::smile:

Hello there
Use a tarnish removing cloth on your hardware often and use a soft pink eraser to gently lift off the tarnish deposited on your bag as soon as you see it
And that should solve the issue
All the best doc

Hello! I just recently purchased a swift birkin but I noticed there are needle points or mole like marks. I tried to wipe it off with a tissue but its still there. Is this normal? Please any help is much appreciated
Hello
Normal? I no would not say it's normal. Is the bag new? A cloth isn't going to fix that in fact I would recommend not mucking with them at all it will more than likely make things worse
They are very tiny
It's a beautiful bag a fabulous color
Put your bag on a table or dresser and step away from it by at least 3 feet
That where to look and see the bag in totality
Can you actually see those small marks?
Then no one else can either
So either return the bag or enjoy it as is
Not to be harsh
Just realistic
All the best doc

Doc, I'm panicking! I somehow got a ballpoint pen mark on my tadelakt birkin! What can I do? I'm going to call the Hermes spa ASAP. Is there any hope??? This is the brand new bag that I bought 2 months ago!
Certainly call Hermes
A pen mark has the best chance of coming out in the first 24 hrs
There are some companies which sell
ASAP ink and color transfer remover kits for luxury leather handbags I recommend everyone has one on hand
Try googling
I hope it works out
Hugs doc

Hi,
I just bought a pre- owned double sens from a auction house in sikkim leather. The bag looks ok, but the smell.... it smells like it's have been used as ash tray with an heavy cigarette odor. I don't know if this can be fixed or if I am in the correct thread for this question. I tried to search the forum but could only find posts of the " Hernes smelly bags" from some time ago which is about new bags.
Can anyone help what to do?
Thank you!
Hello
You can google and search to find products for hand bags to remove smoke odor
They can often do the trick with some repeat treatments
And there are some restoration shops which have ozone treatment rooms to help remove bad smells
All the best
Doc

Hi Doc,
I am in need of your professional opinions. I am considering to purchase a pre-loved Hermes box calf Kelly Depeche, which is in quite a bad condition. The bag is showing signs of dryness, having scuffs, cracks ezand scratches all over the surface. Please see the pictures below for more details:

As indicated above, do you think that this bag can be repaired and restored to a decent state? Are these scratches, cracks and scuff marks abe to be removed or made invisible? Base on your experiences, how "new" this bag can be restored after treatment (on a scale of 0-100%).
Your opinions are precious for me to decide whether I should buy this bag as it's price is quite affordable for me.
I appreciate your comments!
Hi there sorry for a late reply I was away tending to other matters this summer
The cracks on the straps are the larger issue and this will not simply condition or polish away
I think it can be a cool vintage bag and it can certainly look much better with a restoration spa
However it's not going to look brand new or even close to that
It can have a charm and a chic old money vintage look
So that's my opinion
I don't like doing those percentages because the mark or range is not clear and completely subjective
So forgive me but I'll pass on that
Personally I think it's super cool
All the best doc

Hello
This is not a job for a novice in my opinion
You don't know what those marks are
I would assume they are actual stains and they will need removed by a professional and then the colored finish would need redone
Which means large area if not the whole bag would need recolored to get a perfect match because spot color restoration never really works well if it's in the middle of a panel
Demarcation would be a issue
Good luck
Doc

Doc, thanks for your response. they are nail varnish, i believe. But I will seek professional cleaning service to clean this and will wait for quote from H spa too. Luckily they are at the bottom of the bag and they are not visible when use
Welcome back !

Hey there
Looks pretty rough
I would not expect a completely restored bag as a possibility
If however you wanted a cool beat up type of vintage Kelly like the Olsen twins were wearing then this might fit the bill
I hope that helps ?
All the best doc

Thanks for your reply. :flowers: I've decided $1200 is too much to pay for something that beat up. Not worth it.

Hi Doc,
I just received a 2004 kelly 28 black box PHW and it is in very good condition. It was authenticated by Bababebi. It has the smell of being stored for a while (which I don't mind) but it feels a bit sticky to touch especially at the edges. From the postal address i think it came from a seller in California.
This is my first box leather bag and am wondering how i should clean it.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks.
