Hi Doc!
I have a question regarding the plaque on a birkin: have you heard of instances where the plaque has separated from the satchel? Is this a common issue and one that is easily fixed? TIA!
Plaque? did you mean some of the hardware? a strap plate? The strap plates often do separate from the leather on the strap.. yes quite common... its the tiny nails which hold the strap plates to the strap , the leather could be glued down and clamped until set ,but typically they will release again as the leather expands and contracts with temperature.
I hope this helps?

Hi Doc!

I have a question about a bag with Barenia leather straps. The seller indicates that there is water staining on one of the shoulder straps and that it can be removed with professional cleaning.

Is this correct? If so, what would the procedure be? Last but not least, is it possible to waterproof Barenia leather? Greatly appreciate your time in helping us out at this thread! :flowers:
Barenia shouldn't water stain at all... this looks like an Oil stain or some other kind of stain ... I don't know that you will ever get that stain out completely, I wouldn't count on it...if its oil you could try degreaser cleansers or powders.... but you will most likely always have some stain there even if its lightened.
That's my thoughts, and I could be wrong as its not here for me to look at in person to be sure...

Hi Doc! Welcome back! :)

I just wanted your ask your opinion, this is a jypsiere 28 in clemence leather. It is brand new but was stored upright so the bottom became like this. If I use it will it go back to how it's supposed to look? Or is it ruined already? [emoji53]

Thank you for always sharing your expertise!! [emoji4]

Hi There, It should straighten out with being filled and put into use... the bent seam should also straighten out with some twisting on your part if it doesn't just come back to shape with carrying the bag. All the best, doc

Thank you

Hello there,
These look like the sights where the awe and needle with thread passed through the leather ? So you have some missing stitches now and you see the needle holes? A small bit of the top skin appears missing... is that what Im seeing? If so them when the new stitches are placed you shouldn't notice the holes.. however if the stitches ripped through and the needle holes are too large you might still see the holes a bit... a little touch up color could make it less noticeable as well.. I hope this helps?
Forgive me I am only guessing , this is what I believe I see by looking at your photos.

Welcome back, Doc! Can you recommend a conditioning product that would be available in the US to treat, darken, and nourish Barenia?
Thank you!!
Hello there, What do you mean by treat? Help me here... OK? You want to darken it? are you trying to cover stains?
Barenia is an oil tanned leather so oils will darken it, however, barenia will absorb oils like a sponge and the leather can become like a puddle of floppy and stretchy leather if over oiled/conditioned. Give me a few more details even a photo or two so I can help you achieve what you'd like if its possible OK? I'll check back soon..
All the best,doc

Hello DocRide,
How are you, DocRide?
I found a Kelly Chamonix in Natural but it has quite a few dark spots all over. I'm in love with Chamonix in natural and wondering how to rescue this bag. Could you please advise me, Docride?
Here are pictures..
