Unfortunately my soft pink eraser doesn’t seem to have lessened the tarnish at all - it may be time for me to send the bag to the spa, just to see if they can do anything about it. But again, many thanks for answering my plea - my heart sank when I saw the mark, and am mad at myself for not having read your leather-care instructions ages ago! Better late than never, though…

Sorry the tarnish mark didn’t lift… sometimes tarnish marks become a stain.

Hi doc, this is my first time posting in this forum and I want to ask for your expertise. There is a black vintage kelly box 28 I’m looking at. The condition is stated very good and it’s O in a circle so that denotes a 1985 bag (but the seller says she’s not sure for some reason).
There are some pictures I have some concerns and wonder if condition and Spa with help with the bag.
The seller said the pictures I circled are creases but no cracks on the bag. There is some lifting on the handle base in the which is visible in the back picture. The corners have some wear on all 4. Other than the the bag looks pretty good.
So I’m just wondering if the bag is in the good condition for an 1985 bag. I think I just need some confirmation to pull the tigger.

I’d ask about seeing the handle
This bag appears to present well
A very pretty Kelly, however the handle bases appear to have the beginnings of torn through leather , I don’t know how much this Kelly costs , you might want to figure in future repairs into the way you think if the cost . A cracked handle (possibly) and tearing handle base pads are not simply stitched together, it means a more in-depth restoration with your bag being away perhaps many months .

I am bringing it in the H store first thing tomorrow morning but likely won't hear back in a month or months when they send it to Paris to fix. I wanted some peace of mind or reassurance that it is restorable or back up plan that it can be painted over in another way? Have been extremely anxious.

Hand sanitizer did this ? Did you use a water damp cloth to clean it off immediately?
This looks like something very harsh to remove color ? I hate to think what it’s doing to your hands …

Straight alcohol on a cloth wouldn’t cause color loss ..

Hi Doc, thank you for your reply! I actually dropped it off at the H store for repair on Sunday. They took 4 days - super quick turnaround and took off the stain thankfully! Btw, I used the Carex aloe vera hand sanitizer, potentially one of the ingredients on there contributed to the odd stain.

This is listed as a Brown B35 Ardennes. But I am thinking it is Noisette?
Wondering though if the corners have been repaired (there is no information on the listing if it has been touched up elsewhere), but the pricing is super attractive. I would hate to buy anything that can't be taken into the spa though.
