Speaking of beautiful “natural“ leathers, what do you think, @docride , about the prospects for diminishing light greenish stains like these (circled in red on photo) on natural Chamonix? And what about whitish scuffs like these (circled in blue on photo), also on natural Chamonix?

Hi there
A bit of tarnish from hardware can often gently be removed with a soft pink pencil eraser ( ever so gently) if the tarnish has not sat on the leather for long enough to migrate into the skin and set as a stain. The white looking marks look like surface rubs off of the finish ( these will remain and not just clean off if they are indeed what they look like to me).
If you love this color but are looking for a restorable type leather I would avoid vache natural and natural Charmonix.
I hope this helps?

I have another question .. if I try to clean some dirt on my H bag with some cleaning kit, will that prevent H from doing a spa to my bag? I'm a bit afraid that anything I do will prevent the bag from getting an H spa at the boutique in the future.. Would appreciate if anyone has experience about that!!
This all depends upon if the products you used effected the leather adversely and or your technique has or hasn’t done the same. If you are scared then simply follow your gutt instincts and don’t much with your bags abd let Hermes take full spa care for you.

Hi Doc,
Happy new year! I loved your video on Kelly and Birkin valuations!
I was hoping if I could get your expertise on this 92 vintage Kelly - do you think this is repairable and if the spa would accept and replace the handle base pad?
Thank you so much!

Hi there, and happy new year!
Not seeing the rest of the bag ( no additional cracks?) if this is the only issue just the handle base pads then sure restoration with handle replacement sounds reasonable to me why not ?

There's some wear on the corners but apart from that nothing else that I can see - thank you for your input! :flowers:

Hello there! What an absolutely amazing thread!thank you for doing this! I purchased this bag at an estate sale. It’s very very rough! Is there any hope to make it look better again? I’m very good at bag restoration but I’m scared to try my usual leather creams on this!
Thank you

Hello, @docride! Hoping for your expert advice.

Just bought this Herbag off of a reseller and it has a bit more wear than stated. I got a good deal, and wondering if it can be spruced up? Namely, it appears to have some staining/water marks on the leather (seen below) as well as a musty smell. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Hi there
An Hermes spa or a trusted A restoration shop should be able to help improve it some color touch maybe needed to make it look better…
Maybe let it air out with an open box of baking soda inside and see if it improves ?

Hi there ,
What a great find !there are lots of set in stains which are not going to clean off ..especially the ink . Either just give it a spa and live with it in its funky shabby chic old money style or have it redyed by a trust professional a color as dark as the darkest stain ?
Have fun with this fabulous project bag

Thank you so much!!! For $15 I can’t go wrong lol! I know nothing about dyeing- would it damage the Hermes stamp and lining? Do you think the Hermes spa could replace the bottom piece and fix it? I’ve contemplated everything, I’ve zero experience with Hermes and I’m embarrassed to go to a boutique and ask with such a shabby but cool bag haha!
