Docride's Hermes Lazarus Thread (can this Hermes be Saved? )

I got this K25 in Gris Pale at my boutique this March. Since then it has lived in its' dustbag in a closet. I just took it out to use for the first time and I saw it had discolored along the stitch lines. It's only along the stitchlines and everywhere (body/sangles/flap). It appears that the leather is reacting with the thread in some way.... Do you know why that might be or if there is a fix? I will bring the bag into the store next week, but wanted to check here first. Thanks.K wmarkup1.jpg

i recalll there was a similar issue with blue brueme in the recent years where there was some discolorations along the stitch too. I believe Hermes in the end recognised it was not isolated cases and they changed the bags for their clients (from what I read).

Interesting. Thank you for bringing this up. I’ve been researching this for hours and couldn’t find anything. Thanks to your comment I found all the posts! Thank you 🙏🏼 I actually have a blue brume wallet and it has a similar issue but much less noticeable…. It definitely is an H issue and not from light etc due to the specific areas. It’s just tricky since it is a QB and replacement is difficult. Knowing it’s a known issue for another color in the past is super helpful when go into the boutique.

Hi @docride—

I need help determining if I should send in my 2009 K40 to H spa. The handle attachments are a bit loose and the clochette is a bit frayed. There is a minor scratch, but this is not a concern. My corners are good. I take good care of those! Any other options besides H spa?

Thanks, in advance 🙏

Hi overall it looks good . Clarify loose handle bases ? I didn’t see that …
The little blemish type things are easily remedied at spa but if they don’t bother you I’d wait to send . This is a great color for fall winter and maybe if it was me I’d send it in the spring when I was rotating to my spring summer bags ?
Just a thought 💭
Send more details on loose handle bases so I can better comment ?
All the best

Hi! I found this bag (please note these are NOT my photos or hands!) for sale online and I'm wondering if it is worth being repaired. It needs new handle and there are cracks to the flap and around the edges. It's a steal at around $1,800, but I know the condition is rough... Is it worth being repaired? CAN it be repaired? I know cracks won't go away but I don't want them to spread.

Hi @docride - purchased this vintage Kelly (from 1972!), seller didn’t disclose that it may have been touched up, but discovered these strange streaks all throughout. Any ideas? Can it be saved? Thanks for your expert advice!

Thanks so much! Loose is probably the wrong word. There are tears at the points where the handles attach to the base of the flap. I’m wondering if that is likely to tear more or can I just leave as is?

This bag will always have an Olsen twins vibe. If you will enjoy that, great (I have a bag like this, not quite as damaged, and I do carry it when I want that feeling). A new handle isn't going to fix the body, you'll end up spending an easy $2500 on spa with everything this bag needs, and you might as well have purchased an older bag in better shape.

Hi there
Looks like the streaks are the result and or residue of the use of a cleaner or conditioner or polish . Buff it out and see if it helps . If not clean it and see if it’s improved . The other surface patterned markings are scrapes and some other sort of blemish which looks odd to me I can not identify from the photos ….
I hope this helps? Let me know your results if you like to have a follow up.

Hi I’m interested in purchasing this vintage Kelly. The seller said it has mold inside from being stored and not being used. They said it has been treated for the mold but it has spots of discoloration. Do you think this bag can be saved or should I not purchase it?

Hi there , I believe mold can be a difficult thing to treat and it’s possible that there are active viable spores still present. I think price and if you are willing to battle a possible mold outbreak…would be weighing on desire for this bag vs another similar bag without these issues. How is the rest of the bag condition wise ?
I hope this helps ?

Thanks so much for your reply. The rest of the bag is great condition it’s just the inside the seller has its for 4k but I was going to see if she’ll go lower. She said it’s been treated but it’s discolored spots but I’m not sure. Here is more photos. The rest of the bag is beautiful
