hi Doc! I finally found a K from my birth year but before I pull the trigger, what are your thoughts on the corners? I know they will never be perfect again but can H spa improve or is it too dry and peeling already? I have asked the vendor if they can find out if the bag has only been worked on by H as I dont want spa to reject it. Thank you so much!

Hi! Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of Hermes knowledge!

I thrift acquired a Gao - what a lovely find! She’s in pretty bad condition but I am hoping she can be refreshed after being a well-carried hobo bag for the previous enthusiast! Any suggestions or thoughts you might share are welcome, thank you!

Hi there
The edges look deeply cracked is that true in real life ? How does the leather feel it looks stiff ? Is it ?

Hi @docride !

I recently purchased an epsom Constance that has wrinkles on the leather, do you think it’s possible to get these wrinkles out or make it look less noticeable? and are there any good leather lotion you’d recommend specifically for Epsom leather?

Thank you!
Hi
The wrinkling looks pretty strong
Some conditioner might help the look but I wouldn’t expect a miracle. I like meltonian all purpose or Cadillac select lotion, used sparingly for Epsom .
All the best doc

Hi there , congratulations 🎉 the corners do look dry but can be made to look cosmetically much better. How’s the rest of the bag ?
All the best

Hi @docride - thank you for your speedy reply!

I think that the edges appear so much worse in the photo than in person - it doesn’t appear cracking/cracked, more like distressed. The leather feels very soft, dare I say supple, not stiff at all! It really looks like abrasive feathering if that makes sense…like she wasn’t properly stored and regularly brushed against something that agitated the leather. Moisturizing would probably give her so much of a new lease!

Thank you again for any guidance! I can take her to my local Hermes (sadly the only SA I knew has long ago moved away) but I’m hopeful there might be something to be done on my own before it comes to trying to have repairs done.

Oh so you have the bag in hand and yes so long as the leather doesn’t feel really stiff and dry and cracked yes go for it , give her a nice cleaning and conditioning and if she has color loss touch up the edges .
All the best

Hi Doc, I don’t have to bag yet. From pictures the rest of the bag looks ok. I got additional pictures and the handle has some dryness/cracking but the attachments look ok. I know that replacement of the handle is about $1000 and am ok with that down the road. Here is the link to the sale site: https://www.annsfabulousfinds.com/c...hr-w1009-01-hermes-vintage-black-box-calfskin

Yes! I have the Gao in hand and I was pleasantly surprised at how much better she looked vs. the photos. It’s Clemence, correct? What do you recommend for cleaning & conditioning? Color touch-up? I’d really love to try and do it myself but I don’t want to make any damage worse by using the wrong product! I also have a black jypsiere 34 that could use a little love too - there’s some warping/curling on the edges and scratches on the hardware. Hoping the same treatment will work for both! Thanks again, it is so appreciated!

Enjoy !

Hi @docride ! Hope you’re well! I’m really enjoying my croc Birkin that you worked on! Thank you!

So I pulled out my Epsom B today and noticed this white mark. At first I thought I dribbled something on it but it’s not that. I tried gentle cleaning with leather cleaner and conditioner but it still remains. Wondering if this is “bloom”? My bag has been in a dustbag in a glass cabinet and the last time I used it was September, and I did not notice this mark. What do you think it is?
I’m going to take it to the spa to see if they can do anything about it, but thought I would check in here first.
