Hello @docride
I’ve noticed these little cracks on ostrich bag I’ve been eyeing. The seller stated brand new but is it possible to have these crack, I am a bit hesitant, if it’s new and is there a way to reverse it to no crack. Thank you so much in advance for your kind advice.
Hi
I see needle holes /awl holes I don’t see the crack you are concerned about …? The awl/needle holes are at an angle and the thread pulls at an angle to give the nice angled stacked effect. It’s not uncommon if a bag becomes dry that those holes can gain tiny cracks … doesn’t tend to be particularly worrisome so long as the leather is able to be conditioned to prevent further cracking. I’d love to see the rest of the bag and evaluate the more concerning areas. You can post here or PM me 😊
All the best doc

Hi @docride
A TPF member gave you a shoutout with an issue I'm currently having on another thread. So here I am wondering if this item has any hope left.
Wondering if you had any thoughts on whether it's worth it to repair the handle/ even possible and what it would reasonably cost someone to repair it? I'm also curious if the resale value is worse or better either way.
Any other guidance is much appreciated!

Hi @docride,

I have a barenia Constance that had gotten mouldy in my hot and humid climate. After attempting to remove the mould using a mould remover (I used Dicon mould remover bcos that's what I have at home), the mould was removed from the surface but dark brown marks have been left behind on the leather where the mould used to be. Is there anyway those marks can be lighted/mould completely removed/bag be saved? Thank u in advance.

Hi there , how upsetting this must be. I wish I had a completely guaranteed magic trick ,unfortunately I don’t . The marks might be permanent or perhaps they can be improved… I think your best bet is to take it to H and see if they can fix the bag for you .
Here’s an informative article just on the by and by …I am not recommending you try these things.
Hope it work out , hugs doc

Hello @docride

I love reading your wise advice and seeing the bags you’ve refurbished, it’s truly impressive and your advice is so appreciated in this community of ours . I just got my first box leather bag. I noticed a small scratch and in a panic I started to rub the area with my finger then a cloth (I’ve had success doing this with my swift bags) and it seems I rubbed too hard. There’s now a small area that looks like a smudge near the top of the back but it’s really only seen in certain lighting and angles. It does not show in natural lighting but shows more with indoor lighting. I’m hoping if I take it back to the boutique maybe they can use some conditioner to restore its sheen in that spot or blend it in. Any feedback you have would be appreciated to hold me over (maybe ease my stress a bit, lol) until I can get to the boutique, but I won’t be attempting it myself this time. Definitely learned my lesson the hard way. Thanks in advance for any wise words, it’s so appreciated 🙏

You are truly the BEST! And thank you for your kind words about my new baby, I think I was much more upset about my little mishap because it’s such a special one. Grateful for your reply, you definitely put me at ease 😊

Hi @docride !

I recently purchased an epsom Constance that has wrinkles on the leather, do you think it’s possible to get these wrinkles out or make it look less noticeable? and are there any good leather lotion you’d recommend specifically for Epsom leather?

Thank you!
