Do you wear your designer bag to work/interviews?

When I say logos, I mean anything with a logo print that is easily ID'd- like LV, Gucci. But, also those designs really don't speak to me either. I do "smaller" brands in leather- people usually give me a blank stare if they even ask who the bag is by when you say something like Kooba, Botkier, Rebecca Minkoff...

i agree! i am starting to like the non-logo brands and appreciating the other leather brands like marc jacob, botkier, michael kors...i think that's better than wearing a high end luxury bag when going into work...i think that there would be gossipping around if i did!!

its good to know all you ladies bring your lovely purses to work. i only wear them on the weekends!

I'm a student, and have been using cheap nylon bags for college. But now I've been given a Mulberry bayswater for my birthday, which I'm planning to use for college. I work for a bank during the summer (holiday job), and I take my prada's and mcqueen's to work. My 'colleagues' know about my bag obsession, and, although they laugh about it, I really don't mind at all. They also laugh about the fact that I dream about being a serious Egyptologist and that I don't care how much money I'd earn if I could just have my dream job. I really just don't care what they think - at the end of summer, I get to go back to college and do what I love every day (which is Egyptology), and they'll still nag about their boring jobs and complain about their coworkers. They are the pathetic ones, not me with my designer bags.

I will wear mid-range bags to work but when I get my Bbag, it will stay away. I dont care about others labeling me bc of my bags but I might worry about something happening to it as I work in a hospital lab. Oh, and a couple ladies carry gucci or coach and I see lots of fendi knockoffs but thats about it. Most of them like bags and will look up the name of the new bags I get or want :)

of course. first and foremost, i spend the most time of the day in the office. If you need to feel shy, ashamed, or embarrassed displaying something you admire then maybe the person should not be buying bags to begin with.

I do, however, I am also at a pretty high level position. I've said this in many posts but I think you must take in to account your office politics or in some cases, your position.

I can identify with this. I work in middle-management in an ad agency, and I'm quite young + have baby face. I find if I am going to work in a T-shirt and jeans/flip flops (allowed in agencies), the creative/account servicing/studio teams can literally pretend I'm a child and ignore me :cursing:

I was asking fellow forum members about should I buy a BBag or Chanel and then one of our fresh hires (jr. designer) walked in with the BBag in gray and immediately the BBag's out of the question :crybaby:

Another ad agency employee here. But I'm in upper management, so I don't really have to worry about what I carry. And it's a small office so we're all pretty close. I doubt most of them know how much they cost.

If you mean people at lower position should wear less expensive bags than their boss and boss' boss, I don't think it's practical - how do you know the price of their bags? And how do they know yours?

Think about it this way. Bill Gates uses a Ford Focus, does it mean that everybody in MS shouldn't drive BMW at all? If your boss choose to go low key, do you have to give up all your nice things? In my company, even the secretaries make enough money to buy designer bags each year. I don't think they should be banned of nice bags only because the boss prefers to carry a Walmart eco-friendly briefcase everyday.

lorihmatthews, would you be bothered if you see one of your junior employees carry a very expensive bag to work, say, a black birkin? Would you judge her?

I am an 18 year old guy, I just graduated high school & am on my way to college. I have worked at a law office for the past 2 years, they all know that I have lots of nice, designer clothing but I don't take in my bags - ever. Just because I don't know what the reaction would be. Most of the secretaries know that I have high end bags, though.
However, I do keep my bag in my backseat at all times.
One of the lawyers carries nice (knock-off, EEK!) logo bags like Gucci. & authentic Coach. However, that's it. Everyone else carries plane Jane purses.

When I am a (full blown) adult I doubt that I'll carry a bag to work, unless I work in a very liberal setting.
