They say make (karmic) room in life for the things you want...
Although no Birkin, I travel with the Mulberry large Bayswater and would do with any GP/K32/Halzan.

Just purchased the longchamps adjustable bag at Heathrow. Have an old large pilage but it's for cargo only. Thank you!
Enjoy! I am travelling with mine now. DH uses mine too when he makes short business trips. Was thinking of picking up one for my mom on way home - she has no designer bags but likes to shop and will appreciate the design, but maybe I should also get dh his own!

I don’t need much space so I just use the larger size with the longer handle, not the expandable. This one was from the Faubourg Longchamps and has my initials on it. Holding my Ostrich 25B, TPM Evie and Chanel jacket during a recent trip, it fits into the space just behind it.

Weren’t Birkins and plumes actually designed by Hermes specifically for travel?
I thought that the Birkin was supposedly created specifically for Jane Birkin after the contents of her basket bag spilled on the floor while she was sitting next to Mr Dumas on a flight back home.
And the plume design was based on travellers blanket bags. ( perfect for my travel shawls!) anyone here remembers the date and the full story?

For me I like to have option of covering the bag and/or taking additional stuff I dont want to put inside a B. I also travel for work and sometimes I will take standby flights. When that happens if the flight is really crowded or I get there very late I have no idea where I will sit or where I will be able to store my bag. But yes, ideally the best visual is an overstuffed gorgeous B in the wild on the train plane boat bicycle!!!!

I'm headed out on a trip tomorrow and will take my chevre Kelly 28 in its dustbag, inside a large Tumi bag that is basically a Le Pliage with a roller sleeve. This way I can also have my iPad, Kindle, camera, and liquids bag with me; this bag will go under the seat and my Rimowa roller will go in the overhead bin. (I never check bags.)
The Kelly is a great bag for running around European cities.

Is this the Just in Case Voyageur (or similar)? Looks very useful with the roller sleeve. and have a great trip!

I’m travelling to Kazakhstan in late June for my son’s wedding. I would love to take my B30. I’m not too concerned regarding the flight, what worries me more is I won’t be using my B for the wedding itself and I don’t know what his new in-laws have planned for us during our stay. I do know my son’s mother in law has a similar taste in handbags to myself though! We’ll be staying in Nur-Sultan (formally Astana) in a very nice hotel and the weather maybe very hot! I can bring other bags for the wedding and for more casual sightseeing but I’m a little concerned with leaving my B in the hotel room (although I can lock it in my suitcase and it is insured). When I’m going to France or Italy (my more usual holidays) I don’t worry, but just not sure what to do this time! Thoughts?

Why are you more worried for Kazakhstan? Astana is a nice city. (It doesn’t usually get that hot though.) That said, if you don’t have any occasions to use the Birkin, no need to bring it if that will cause extra stress

The expandable longchamp can for sure. I have gotten 2 kelly 32 in it before with room for other items, and it was unexpanded!
Thank you. I have one, so I’ll try. I usually don’t carry more than 2 either
The only thing is, if I carry 4, I doubt it will fit under the seat. If I put it overhead, I’d prefer a bag with structure (or at least some), so it doesn’t get accidentally crushed by someone else’s carry on.

Hi QuelleFromage, thank you .
I’m probably being silly to be honest, it’s just somewhere I’ve never been so not too sure what to expect. It’s not so much having an occasion to use the Birkin (I take it to the supermarket here!). I’m just so boring and keep repeating the same European destinations and there’s only a couple I wouldn’t take it. So this is out of the ordinary for me somewhat!
That said it is light weight, practical and I enjoy using it so much, so would like to take it.

I do actually use my bags as mostly travel by train and avoid flying as much as I can.
Actually, would LOVE to have a beat up old Birkin to use for travel/ plane journeys.

You’ll enjoy; bring your bqg! Watch out for the winds. (I know Astana is its former name, but that’s how I know it....it’s a very new rename!)

I would use a proper hard cabin bag for these 4. To avoid the squashing as you mentioned. I have flown a few times with 3 carry ons of Hermes while relocating.
Thank you, periogirl. That’s what I might have to do. I was looking at ‘garment’ carry ons and they might be a good solution because the bags can be carried standing up. The problem is the depth of a 25K + 25B add up to the max depth allowed by airlines, otherwise it could have been the perfect solution.
