^^^She was way too fast, as I wrote. When traveling, I usually settle in my seat and wait for the rest of my travel companions to fill in the seats next to me. Once the plane is more quiet, I stand up and place it in the dust bag/GM cashmere, storing it in the above head locker. I never place it under the seat, as either I, or the person sitting behind me can kick it (if, for example there is a man w longer legs). Also, I am a little superstitious, and one should never put the handbag on the ground- as it is said that " your money will fly away..."

This woman clearly wanted to throw it there, she didn't even give me time to bling, she grabbed it and just threw it there. People sitting around me were surprised too, as they had seen how angry I got, one older lady even commented on it.

wooooww, that is not a good thing to start a flight :faint::nogood:

i travel with them and put it under the seat.. but every now and then, wondered, "what if the guy in front of me spill coffee." just the thoughts gave me goosebumps haha from now on, i will put it in the locker, so my money won't fly away. :p:D

The thing about the overhead on the plane is that any yahoo can come along, especially on a flight that is full. move your stuff around or try to squish their stuff over your stuff. I have that happen when a jacket is up there on top of the Rimowa. I can always get the jacket cleaned/pressed. Not so with the bag. I am not a fan of opening the overhead during flight (shouldn't be allowed and is unsafe) and that is another reason why I like the tote close by. As long as your bag is protected by an outer covering/bag, there should be no problem. Any dirt, coffee etc will just soil the outer bag.

100% agree. Overhead is just asking for trouble, 10x more variables to injure your bag, exotic or not... Especially after you experience an attendant knowingly or unknowingly smashing your bag into the overhead, or another passenger handling it and putting their roller bag in front or in top of it... You'd be insane to leave your bag in anyone's hands again!

Especially flying first or business class, even coach, it is always safer in a concealed tote between your legs.

i have traveled with my B35 togo leather and i go even one step BELOW a tote...

i use this free plastic bag i got from lululemon...
(and i never place my bags in the overhead bin for the points mentioned before by others; i always place under the seat in front of me)

i love it because:
- the handles are long enough to be worn over the shoulders so i can carry my B in that way
- it's plastic and therefore waterproof!
- fits a B35 perfectly!
- has an open top so it's easy for me to access my B with my items inside
- it's very unassuming so it doesn't attract any unwanted attention

This is what I´ve done too at times. I used to own an LV Cabat with long handels, and it was perfect for my B35:p

Me Three!!!!! And the good thing about this Lulu bag is it is pretty resistant to water, in that if you are carrying it somewhere where you, say have to wash your hands, and a bit of water splashes up you need not worry about it soaking your bag!!!! I love that they are free too!!!:p

You are such an enabler! I am trying to be good here and behave myself :p Am going into the longchamp boutique next week to check out sizes to fit the B35 in the meantime...
Actually, I was thinking of the kelly.
But if you figure out what size to buy for a 35cm birkin, could you kindly post? I'd like to pick a pliage up myself, but I don't know what size would be best.

The XL Pliage fits two bags- a 35cm B and a 32cm K in the same bag. ;) Haven't tried the L, but if the height is the same as the XL then it would fit the 35B if the width is more than 35cm. If the height is less than the XL then it won't fit, because the XL is a tight fit height-wise already with the 35B.

Carlin, I just love your solution! The best part is how inexpensive it is. If I was checking all my luggage, now that would be something given my paranoia, I could see doing this. Perfect for sending your bag through the x-ray equip and keeping it clean on-board.

Wow! What a great idea. I actually have this bag. Now why didn't I think of it. Dear Carlinha, you're a gem!

I hesitate to say this given how much we have spent on the actual bag in question, but...It irks me to buy a bag to put my bag into. KWIM? I have looked at buying the GM Pilage many times and then don't pull the trigger. When I purchased my current tote, and only did that because it was a true bargain find and matched my Rimowa exactly, I discovered that it would answer the eternal question of how to travel with the bag. Just before purchasing this tote, I was doing the same thing with a zippered canvas freebee from a drug company. It did the trick, but was not a sturdy or roomy as my subsequent purchase and was getting pretty beat up.

Audreylita, Please post after you've test "driven" your pliage with your 35b. Also, is there any other way to identify the pliage you have other than the xl with the zipper in the middle (or is that description sufficient to assure I order the right one)? Thanks so much (and our husbands similarly "trained". :-)
