Do you travel with your H bag?

I will travel and I don't want to take my beloved Birkin as my handbag on the flight. Do you put them in your suitcase? I am SO scared that my suitcase might get lost... :roll eyes:

Any H bag I travel with goes in my carry on. I no longer put anything of value in the belly of the plane.

Ditto. What with having to pay for checked luggage, the always-present risk of misdirected bags, and recent revelations about organized thievery by airport staff, it either comes on board with me or it doesn't go. If I absolutely must have more than I can carry-on, I'll ship to my destination. But I do travel with Hermes. For me, the bags are too expensive not to use to their fullest!

i was on a flight on friday and saw a lady cram 2, yes 2, birkins in the overhead bins no where near her seat! they were absolutely real, gorgeous colors, both had horseshoes on them and i would have killed to have either. i was pained seeing people move her birkins around-- I almost wanted to offer to hold them in my cashmere blanket.

she was with her celebrity basketball husband, so she obviously could get lots more if these were damaged... but still... i can't believe she put them in the overhead bins with no protection!

I can't believe she out them in the overhead. Oh do tell who it was...was it Chris Bosh's wife?

it truly was painful. i hated seeing her smush them in with rolled luggage. we were sitting in the first row, and she seriously put both of them in the overheads back near row 15! i would have been worried the whole time.

and sorry about my original typo, i meant to type football not basketball. it was chad ochocinco and his fiance or girlfriend or wife, not sure what she is these days.

There are two options I've used: For domestic shipping, I use UPS or FedEx (I'm in the US) and put my bulky clothes, shoes, and toiletries in a sturdy box which I ship as you might anything else. (Anything of real importance or value, like Hermes, jewelry, and essential toiletries, go with me in a carry-on.) Most hotels will accept these shipments and hold them for the guests' arrival (I give the concierge a heads-up that the box is coming and be sure the box is labeled with my name and arrival date). For international shipping, I rely on a company called "Luggage Forward." There are other companies that do the same thing; I've just had the best experiences with this one. You ship an actual packed piece (or pieces) of luggage. They take a copy of your passport, an inventory of what is in the bag, and specifics of your flights and use local carriers (usually DHL on the US side) to pick up from your home and transport the bags to their destination. You book outward and return trips at the same time and simply take the return paperwork with you to attach to the bags before you leave the hotel. Luggage Forward tracks the bags and lets you know when they reach their destination, and will handle any issues with customs should they arise. It is not inexpensive, but it is worth it for long trips so that I can have what I need without the stress and inconvenience of hauling a large bag myself. Most of the time I live out of a carry-on when on vacation, but for special, longer trips this is a good alternative. HTH!

Longchamp pliage is a great tote to put your Birkin inside and carry on. It is most helpful going through security too.

I have an H Feu2Dou that is large enough for me to put in a 35 B or K plus other smaller items. It's worked out perfectly and I can safely stow it under the cabin seat.

I was lucky enough to get the Feu2Dou at a sale, the top leather part was badly scratched and no one was paying attention to it. I got it and brought it in to Claude and he performed his magic. You would never know it wasn't purchased brand new!

In the midst of everyone saying the sales just aren't what they used to be, they are always worth going to because there could always be that one treasure that would make the trip worthwhile!

What a great idea!! Good to know!! :smile1:

I was wondering how everyone feels about traveling with your Hermes bags. I'm too nervous to put one in checked baggage and do worry when I'm leaving it in a hotel room even in my locked luggage. I normally travel with only one Hermes purse and just hope for the best.

Does anyone else have these worries or is it only me?

:confused1:

I also do travel with my Hermes. I normally bring 2 bags ( kelly and birkin) . I used to worry just like you but now I get use to ... So I cannot travel without them. I am the person who cannot use just one bag during my travelling. I have to bring at least 4 bags ( 2 hermes, 1 chanel medium classic and the other small brand bag.)

For those of you who fly alone, where do you store your H bags? I only travel with 1 carry-on luggage and a tote, but even with the Birkin under the seat in a tote, it makes me nervous when I have to leave it alone, especially on a long haul or international flight. Or am I worrying excessively?
