Do you travel with your H bag?

My advice is get a 60inch rolling luggage a cheap one will do...i bought mine like $70 in target..this will fit the big orange box for birkin then stuff the box inside with all your clothes...

i was on a flight on friday and saw a lady cram 2, yes 2, birkins in the overhead bins no where near her seat! they were absolutely real, gorgeous colors, both had horseshoes on them and i would have killed to have either. i was pained seeing people move her birkins around-- I almost wanted to offer to hold them in my cashmere blanket.

she was with her celebrity basketball husband, so she obviously could get lots more if these were damaged... but still... i can't believe she put them in the overhead bins with no protection!

Lucky, lucky you! To be able to find someplace for a hokliday where you could also purchase ' a few H bags'!!! I think I am a bit jealous!

This is my honest opinion and from experience. Do NOT leave your orange H boxes behind! They are not replaceable and they are the absolute best way to store you H bags--put them in their sleepers and then in the box original and make yourself a little display in your dressing room or bedroom.

Also, if you ever get bored with one of your H bags or you decide to sell them the H bags complete with sleeper, BOX, raincover, keys, etc. is worth MORE Money on the re sale market!

I think I might buy an extra seat for my shopping if I were you! Seriously, you have the option of buying one of the brands discussed above and either chancing the overhead compartment or checking the H bags in your hard sided checked baggage---be sure to take out extra baggage insurance.

Or, probably the best idea, even if costly, put all your H purchases in either a hardside suit case or in a made for moving or international shipment strong cardboard box---don't use a box from the grocery store---put plastic on the bottom of the box then pack the H boxes with handbags inside filling any spaces with moving paper (not newspaper it leaves marks) then put another sheet of plastic over the boxes and then you seal the box up yourself! Then add the bags to your homeowners insurance policy if you have not already done this.

I would then take it to FedEx or to UPS and send it to your home address. On Customs forms I have only had to put "Personal used possessions" and declare the value if necessary---I do not know where you are for holidiay or where you are going next.

Yes, this might make you lose your VAT refund if you are departing from Europe to USA but better that then worrying about your H bags the entire flight or having one smashed in overhead.

The alternative is to pack the box the same way as above but do not seal, take it to where you get your Customs stamp and VAT refund (again this depends on which country and airport) and then again seal the box yourself, put your seat number on it and check it as EXCESS baggage with FRAGILE tags on it.

I have done it both ways with the shipping box and it is much less stressful than worrying about a smashed H handbag.

And if you are a re-seller or if this is the first time you supply a re-seller, then at least show us what you bought and I am sorry I helped at all because to me resellers take the bags that the rest of us want and can never find and then put outrageous markups on them!

> I resell bags from my own closet all the time and sending it in an orange box or not has made zero difference in the selling price of the bag. In the past I always offered the box and was surprised how many people asked me NOT to send the box. I do not mark up my bags and am always happy to get what I paid for them. For me it turns into an exchange policy so I'm always updating my inventory with newer items and basically am trading one bag for another. Not all of us resellers have 'outrageous' mark ups.

> I have all my H bags insured under what's called a 'collectibles' policy. To have insured my entire collection piece by piece would have been cost prohibitive, it would be the same as insuring your expensive pieces of jewelry piece by piece. If you insure your bags as collectibles, if something happens to any of them, even a new purchase, it's automatically covered. And it's a fraction of the cost of insuring them one by one.

.

it does not seem fair to attack anyone on this forum especially on assumptions.

I also got an envirosax that matches my B for when I travel, I put it on through security and also
when I get on board.

I never put my B in the over head bins, always by my side.

For take off and landing, when they do the cabin check, sometimes they insist on it going in the bins but I always have it on the floor in front of my seat, with my legs tucked over to protect it and that then satisfies them.

If I travel with my B then that can be the only structured bag I take on the trip as I hate packing structured bags in luggage. Also I don't think i can ever attempt putting my B in my hold luggage, scared that it might be scanned, seen and then an attempt made to grab it by someone who knows it's worth.

I travel a lot and usually take my everyday Kelly along with a Constance for when I need a smaller bag. The Constance always goes in the carryon -- never the checked bag. I don't put the Kelly under the seat as too often people spill things -- I've seen all sorts of things sloshing around. It stays in my lap until close to takeoff and then I pop up and rearrange the overhead as needed to fit the bag, usually right at the front edge. Never had a problem although I only travel with very durable leathers, usually chevre or swift. I wouldn't try it with box.

Thanks Expertess, I think I will definetly take the box too. I stored all my Hermes bag in them so they won't get squashed. Definetly will try to see if they have any in Amsterdam cos its our last stop in Europe. Here in Macau, same as HK that we buy bags tax free but due to this most H bags here were kept for casino high rollers mostly from mainland China and so it's hard for us to get one.
