I am glad that you enjoy yours all the time too! You love them so don't worry and enjoy because you do not know what tomorrow might bring!

I am not at all like my late mother who still had handbags, sweaters, and scarves in original wrappings/box/ribbons tied when she died. Plus sterling silver flatware, etc that only were used for VIP dinners.

I have long ago stopped looking for Mr Goodbar and I use her sterling silver daily.

As for having your handbag stolen or your wallet, your chances are probably the same in any major city around the world.

And I would not dream of going up to London without an Hermes handbag and a fur coat at this time of the year except for the Hermes and Haroods sales where they would be a burden.

I am more worried about something horrible happening to me or to whomever I am with than I am about my material possessions. Enjoy!

so true so true.. well said expertess..

i agree with expertess. my mother keeps her 'expensive' stuff for special occasions and i never do that.

i travel a lot and i usually bring along my trim and birkin (great for documents and my macbook air). my birkin goes into the le pliage when i'm flying.

i used to have a lindy which was great for travel but i've fallen out of love with the lindy so i sold it.

Loves:flowers:What happened? I see you fell out of love with your Lindy. Could you tell us what happened with your relationship?:pI find it easier to travel with my Lindy as I don't use travel bags like the pliage or the envirosac. I think its time I buy one!

Hi Julide! I loved it when I got it and I used it a lot for 2 years.

I guess my eyes just got tired of looking at it. I still love etoupe but I probably would like to own a simpler designed bag in that color.

I still find the shoulder strap of the lindy very comfortable but the collapsible cookie fortune shape doesn't sing to me anymore. Odd eh? I guess I fall out of love easily :p

I love the envirosax as I use it in lieu of plastic grocery bags. It carries a lot. Just yesterday I had a lamp, bulbs, a kettle and a torchlight in the envirosax. The le pliage is a lot less compact (leather flap and handles are bulky) but it is useful when I need a zipped up bag.

Loves:flowers:Good to know. I have had my lindy for about four years? I no longer remember...:shame:But I kind of fall in and out of love with bags. Somedays I use them for weeks and then forget about them for months...I really need to buy both the envirosac and the pliage. It sounds like they are practical bags! Thanks for sharing Loves!!:flowers:

If you purchased a few H bags from your holiday location, do you put them into your suitcases without the boxes or with boxes and check them in?

Lucky, lucky you! To be able to find someplace for a hokliday where you could also purchase ' a few H bags'!!! I think I am a bit jealous!

This is my honest opinion and from experience. Do NOT leave your orange H boxes behind! They are not replaceable and they are the absolute best way to store you H bags--put them in their sleepers and then in the box original and make yourself a little display in your dressing room or bedroom.

Also, if you ever get bored with one of your H bags or you decide to sell them the H bags complete with sleeper, BOX, raincover, keys, etc. is worth MORE Money on the re sale market!

I think I might buy an extra seat for my shopping if I were you! Seriously, you have the option of buying one of the brands discussed above and either chancing the overhead compartment or checking the H bags in your hard sided checked baggage---be sure to take out extra baggage insurance.

Or, probably the best idea, even if costly, put all your H purchases in either a hardside suit case or in a made for moving or international shipment strong cardboard box---don't use a box from the grocery store---put plastic on the bottom of the box then pack the H boxes with handbags inside filling any spaces with moving paper (not newspaper it leaves marks) then put another sheet of plastic over the boxes and then you seal the box up yourself! Then add the bags to your homeowners insurance policy if you have not already done this.

I would then take it to FedEx or to UPS and send it to your home address. On Customs forms I have only had to put "Personal used possessions" and declare the value if necessary---I do not know where you are for holidiay or where you are going next.

Yes, this might make you lose your VAT refund if you are departing from Europe to USA but better that then worrying about your H bags the entire flight or having one smashed in overhead.

The alternative is to pack the box the same way as above but do not seal, take it to where you get your Customs stamp and VAT refund (again this depends on which country and airport) and then again seal the box yourself, put your seat number on it and check it as EXCESS baggage with FRAGILE tags on it.

I have done it both ways with the shipping box and it is much less stressful than worrying about a smashed H handbag.

And if you are a re-seller or if this is the first time you supply a re-seller, then at least show us what you bought and I am sorry I helped at all because to me resellers take the bags that the rest of us want and can never find and then put outrageous markups on them!

Thanks Expertess! I'm not a reseller, haven't bought any H in Europe yet but planning ahead if I'm lucky. I'm from Macau traveling to Europe (Paris, Barcelona, Madrid and Amsterdam then china). I think I'll keep all the boxes. It's so hard to get any H items here, the H store here don't have any belt, twillys, wallets, clutch and they only had two scarfs. We have to get on waiting list just to buy Constance, lindy or any other handbag. No waiting list for Kelly or Birkin. So I plan to hope I can get toolbox, lindy or a Kelly in Europe.

If you are in Macau then do you pay the high per cent duty that China has on luxury items but that is not charged in Hong Kong which still is duty free? There is a very very high margin re-seller in Hong Kong but I just refuse to pay 3 times the cost for a Birkin with them but if you find nothing you really like on your trip to Europe there is that alternative.

Definitely try Amsterdam store and if you are in some of France's smaller cities try there too. And if you are in Paris from 18 Jan there is the grand sale of H at Porte Maillot see separate thread.

But definitely keep the boxes--especially with the humidity in Macau because you can then add the anti humidity crystals into the box and NOT into the handbag or its sleeper.

Happy shopping and good luck
