This is a wierd question because the question you asked was:

Do you think right hand diamond rings are slutty?

but then you ask:

As in, wearing them if you aren't married.

Because do you realise that when you're married, you actually wear the diamond ring on your left hand???? So......to answer your question....

A: I don't think wearing a diamond ring on your RIGHT hand is classed as slutty
B: I don't think wearing a diamond ring on your left hand if you're not married is slutty either.

I am not married and I wear a diamond ring on my right hand. I wear it on my ring finger of my left hand sometimes when men I dont want attention from try to chat me up. I find it VERY useful.

I don't understand how a piece of jewelry can be "slutty".........it's the person that is perceived in a slutty or other manner.
Weird question!

haha. i thought the same thing when i saw the title. i'm like really? slutty for wearing a diamond ring on your right hand? what if you wore a short skirt and accentuated your cleavage—i bet that really makes you a slut! LOL

really odd question....

Ok thanks for confirming ... I sometimes wear a diamond ring on my right hand (I posted pics awhile ago when I first joined TPF of the ring) Anyway, I was approached my a woman who said that it's slutty because it's mocking the sanctity of marriage? (maybe because wedding rings are traditionally diamonds and are on the left hand? ... ) I'd never heard this opinion so I wanted to know what you guys thought.

wow. i am in shock. first of all, i am amazed that that woman actually approached you and said that to you. what a set of balls she has on her.

personally, i would have told her to take a hike (maybe not as nicely put, however) because it's none of her business.

sanctity of marriage my ass, that's a load of crap. i know many women who are divorced but love their rings so they wear it on their right hands. i don't see the problem with this since why should you put a beautiful piece of jewelry aside just because you're no longer married?

that woman was an idiot.

you should have responded to her about how her ignorance is a mockery and a disgrace to the human race.

It could be the woman who said it was slutty to have a diamond dress ring dident have or will never own a diamond ring in her life.Maybe she could never afford a diamond for a wedding ring or for pleasure :p:p-not your fault is it!

A Sad woman with out a diamond:laugh:

Now can a ring be slutty?

Diamonds are only used as engagement rings in the last couple dozen years.

The De Beers Corp marketed heavily, "A diamond is forever" for the diamond to be used as engagement rings.

For thousands of years, gold, ruby, sapphire rings were the stones of choice. They are also what is on most royal crowns and still used for royal engagements.

Diamonds are less rare than than the other precious stones, why should they be designated as a holy (sanctity of marriage) stone?

I don't wear single diamond as a right hand ring but that doesn't mean I can't or others can't.

I think it's InSaNe that this women said that to you!!! BAM POW!!!

Now, I think it looks SILLY if someone wears a diamond ring on their right hand that has the style of most engagement rings. (IE: .75ct solitaire with matching band.) I would NEVER make a comment about it though, as I see it as just MY personal opinion!!!

Tons of designers create gorgeous RIGHT HAND rings chuck full of the sparklies!!! Diamonds can NEVER be slutty IMO unless the man (women) your dating has one on their wedding finger and they aren't YOUR husband/wife! LOL KWIM?!

I wear a solitaire and band on my left middle finger (just because they fit there). I am not married, nor engaged. Why do you think it looks silly? I am just curious, not offended at all:smile1:

I think that Europeans may look at this "ring thing" differently, maybe.
