Do You Prefer Size 30 or 35 Birkin?

I have a B 35 in Black Chèvre Coromandel. I bought it used specifically to turn into my cowgirl Birkin. It has engraved hardware overlays which can be removed in the future if I decide to do so. Saying that because pictures would show that hardware! I also have a B 30 in Togo Blue Nuit. They are no doubt very different. The Chèvre does not have any slouch at all. It is extremely light and maintains its shape. I have had it for 3 years now I think. The Togo has gotten a little slouch to it over time. Hope that helps!

I have both 35's and 30s. 30s are my most used/most versatile, 35's are the ones I go for for work/travel...best if they are either indestructible (hello, Fjord!) or super light/maintain their shape (Ostrich, Box, Chevre). I don't have a 35 Chevre, but even though I don't covet another 35, I would absolutely make room for a 35 Chevre in my closet! I dislike the slouchiness of a 35 Togo (BTDT), love it only in Fjord because that also comes with durability, and think a Chevre would be not only gorgeous, but lightweight, durable and structured!

I have mainly 30s.* I rarely use the 35B that I kept. There is a big size and weight difference
It might be a good travel bag for a car. But. I dont even travel with any 28K/ 30B.
I would not recommend buying a 35 until you can at least try one on. The depth of a 35 is also significant
Many of us have purchased the wrong size B due to a great price, color, leather, and regretted it.

* to be honest, a 30 is often too large for my daily use.

I am 5’2 and have both B30s and 35s. I carry a lot of stuff all the time. The B35 is a great travel tote, and if you have smaller kids that are already ambulatory, B35 is perfect because it is the perfect Mom bag to carry snacks. baby wipes, et al. It can get heavy. When the kids are old enough to carry their own stuff, I transitioned to the B30, which is perfect for everyday use and can fit my phone and IPad. I would not buy additional B35s now because I am older now and the weight is an issue. But I do use my basic leather B35s on a more regular basis as travel totes. My special edition B35s are so fun to wear and bring me a lot of joy, but I do wish they came in a B30. Unfortunately, these two special editions did not come in a B30 and once I set eyes on them, I could not refuse. Hopefully, you can try on both and you will know when you have the purse in hand.

This is my girl carrying my B35 fringe and me carrying my B35 Faubourg Tropical. B35s are big totes.

Your dress is fabulous!
Op, I think taking the time to try on the sizes is important, unless you can return them no questions asked.

haute okole, Sorry to highjack this thread, but your B35 fringe is the coolest B I have ever seen. I am so glad you have this!!! My store got one and sold it quickly; I was too late in the game to request it. Ok... I came back to add that your Faubourg Tropical B is AMAZING! You have the best bags!!!!

Back to topic  Soumy, I have two 30s (noir and cactus) and one 35 in gold. I am 5'7" and use both sizes for everyday use. I don't have any bags in chevre, but know how special it is from seeing the gorgeous pics from members here on tPF. I think the 35 noir in chevre is extra special, so I would take the 35. I also love large bags even though I don't carry much at all. You can always get a togo 30 anytime. I can't wait to see what you decide!

I love chèvre so I understand your dilemma! I have a B30 in Togo, a B30 in chèvre and a B35 in Togo. The B35 is by far the heaviest and is a significantly larger bag in terms of carrying capacity. The chèvre B30, as others have observed, is the lightest and retains its structure and like @haute okole I find the 30s just right for me. If you feel that a B30 would be ideal for daily use then I would be hesitant to go up to the B35 unless you can think of a specific need that would not be met by a B30. I mainly use mine if I need to bring two bottles of wine to a friend's house  or very occasionally if I want to carry my laptop. I think you need to decide whether you are buying the bag as a collector (in which case the chèvre B35 might win out) or purely as a daily user. If you can look at and hold any B35 IRL to test the size (irrespective of the leather) I think this could also be helpful in your decision. Good luck!

Absolutely beautiful 😍 and seeing both side by side makes me realise that I do love them both!! From this distance the 35 does not appear massively bigger but obviously this is just a photo nothing like real life .. Thank you so much for sharing

Thank you so much for your reply. I was also looking at a Fjord but then found the Chèvre and forgot about Fjord 😂 I love both leathers for different reasons ( although seems that Fjord is considered by the majority as one the heaviest H leathers). I do not intend to use it for travel if I'm being honest as I like to be low key so unless I'm travelling locally that would not be the sole purpose. I will probably use for work but again I am not someone who carries a lot at all I just love big bags 😂 and the Chèvre attracts me because I don't see it often if at all being carried outside (and I see loads of birkins where i live) so the uniqueness coupled with the leather qualities itself is a big attraction. If it was a 30 I don't think I would have even started the thread because I would have got it without a doubt ...

This is a wise advice because the price is not even the attraction as it is a bit more expensive than what B35 is currently on the resale market in a different leather. The B35 and B30 i am considering are roughly the same price.
I literally NEVER sell my bags or buy any with the intention to sell in the future so obviously regrets for me will be expensive ones 🙃
30 is also too big for me if we are only taking into consideration what I carry a super mini is enough for my card holder and lipsticks/mirror and keys but again I love big bags 😂

Thank you so much for sharing! Absolutely gorgeous bags and they both look beautiful on you and your daughter! Seeing the B35 on does not make it appear too large at all ! I only have in my mind 2 B35 max for my collection while for b30 I will be open for more if I love the colour.. the dilemma is real 😩

That was exactly what I thought.. I see plenty of b30 black but not any in chèvre whether b30 or b35.. I think if I knew for sure that I may get this option in store I would definitely wait and get a chèvre in b30 but I know that it is unrealistic.
I share the same love for big bags. My collection is not massive as I want to use and love my bags but I definitely have more big bags than I do smaller ones. You will never see me in a mini unless I have gone mad 😂 and I am not that tall either .. thanks for your reply 🙏🏻

I am not a collector for sure and do not intend to become one. I want to keep my H collestion small so I can wear all of them and enjoy them. Probably one or max max 2 B35 would be more than enough for me.
As I mentioned in other replies I have no particular purpose in my mind for a b35 over a b30. I just know that I want both sizes which makes my decision a mess 😂
I may get a b35 and realise I only gravitate towards b30 or not.. I will never know until I make an expensive mistake I guess..

For sure, I am biased…I love my B35 in Barenia, which is super sturdy but can be a bit heavy. I also love my B40(!) Barenia, which is super sturdy and even a bit more heavy. I like to have space for my stuff, hence also the feeling that my K25 is mostly too small for my stuff. I do not like to carry extra bags with other stuff eg purchases or some water or a mini-umbrella or gloves, or a scarf or… because the stuff does not fit in my actual bag. But this is me.

I do have Bolide in 35/37 in black chèvre mysore with a very visible spine, which is fantastic to use under the radar, lightweight, perfect shine, great in rain. I would get a b35 in this leather in a second (for a reason price). Maybe (very very) maybe I would even give up my beloved B35 in black barenia for this one if I had to … would be a close call. I am not collecting H either just for the sake of it, I like to use my bags (heavily).
