Do You Prefer Size 30 or 35 Birkin?

I'm 5'9 with a slim build. I have 3 neutral 35's (am about to add another in a very bright color), and 3 30's (2 neutrals and a bright). Whenever I see photos of myself with the 35 my eyes are drawn to the bag (and the size), yet with the 30 it seems proportional. I don't see the same when I look at others. Plus the 35 is heavy, and if I've got the room I'll fill it up! I see having both for different purposes. Oddly, I tend to take the 30's for travel, since I can put them in a larger tote (for the plane) yet they are lighter for walking around/shopping etc. I use my 35's almost exclusively for work, and will probably adhere to a one-in, one-out rule in that size.
I see room for both sizes in your wardrobe, if you can swing it!

I am 5'4" and carry a B30. I find it fits my essentials and is easy to carry. Although I love the look of a 35 I am satisfied. I own a Birkin, and Kelly and a GP, I would love more however I don't see it in my immediate future.

I have 2 B30s and wanted to get a B35 but my SA advised against it. Says that it will be too big & bulky for my frame, I'm a slim 5"4. But eventually I'll get a B35, it will be a good travel bag I think.

I have 2 35 and 1 30...before I used to feel like the 35 suits me well but now I feel like 30 is a more appropriate size. I still use my 35 but definitely going for size 30 next. even my 35 jelly feels a bit big now. I am also 5'4"

5-4 and petite and although my first B was a 35, I now love and use the 30 size most. I don't feel the 35 overwhelms my frame, I actually like the casual vibe of a 35. I just don't need that much space and the weight bothers me, so 30 it is!

I like reading different opinions on sizes - very interesting. I have both sizes and I am one of the few that prefer a 35. For me, it depends on how I see a bag being used - my idea of the perfect look for a bag. The Birkin is a workhorse - it's a tote style in a classic design. For me, it's not meant to be dainty at all. That's why I prefer the size 35. I am about 5'4" and I love it best with high heels and great pants for work - I would never carry a Birkin to a wedding or like occasion. So even though I like the weight of the 30, it's too pretty and cute for me to be used as a rugged workhorse - the way it should be in my mind. If I want to look ladylike and pretty as opposed to an executive look, I'll reach for a Chanel flap or the Lady dior, or even the kelly - those have a slightly different feel. I think smaller bags are really popular now and are making people reevaluate bigger sizes, but I think the 35 will always be classic..

I am 5'4" and weigh about 110-115. I actually prefer the "look" of the 35 on my frame, but have grown to love the the 30 mainly due to weight factor, and I tend to keep my 30 kind of open (spread apart). That being said, I prefer my 35 when I am traveling or out solo without kids. I have two young ones and sometimes the 35 feels like I am lugging a 3rd child. I DO carry a lot, and BOTH bags fit my needs. However, I am reaching for my 30 the most, but that may change with time. I think it comes down to the stage you are in life, how much you carry, size preference, and if weight is a factor.

35 dose not suit my lifestyle, I only use 30 and 25, I don't bring a lot things with me and if I carry a 35, the bag is "almost empty", I wouldn't carry a bag mainly for the tote image or the "look", also, the weight is another issue, since I don't carry that much, that make no sense to me to choose the heavier one to use.

Like you, I really prefer the look of the 35 also (think Christine Lagarde with her size 35 Birkins....), but I agree - our preferences change at different stages in life. Probably one of the reasons I am able to keep up with my love for the 35 is that I drive to and from work and picking up kids and all. I suppose if I lived in a city where I walked around more, the weight of my bags may make me reevaluate.

Having said that, my work tote for a long time was the Dior Bar and that bag is so heavy. Great, functional and very well crafted but so heavy (definitely heavier than the 35)...so I'll leave a caveat - maybe I am just used to the heavy weight..

I am a lot like you. I prefer the size 35 for birkin because it's meant to be a tote...35 is classic.
