Do You Prefer Size 30 or 35 Birkin?

Lady Emma - at your height (5,6 if I remember) I think the 30cm would look good you, perhaps in a softer leather and a lighter colour, so it appears larger, a sheenier leather would appear larger too. It might do for when you want to bridge the gap between day and night without changing bags and need something a little more smart-casual rather than casual. I've agonised for weeks over the 30cm vs 35 cm size and although I have a 35 cm Kelly, I am going to go for the 30 cm Birkin and use it as a hangbag not a tote or travel bag. A small enough laptop would fit easily, not sure about shoes though. I quite liked the 30cm having less depth than the 35 cm, that swung it for me more than anything else, I think there's about an inch less depth in the 30cm Birkin, so it should be more streamlined than the 35cm and less likely to bump into things and a softer leather would benefit from fewer bumps.

Meant to add, have you considered a Bolide in 31cm? That way, you could stay faithful to your 35s and have a smaller bag with a completely different look.

Thank you for the thought - I DO like the bolide...but the larger sizes!
I am going to go poke around and see what's there. I may be best served in the the midsize kelly range 32. Thanks!

Oki I am not tall and not skinny either.. I have a 30 cm birkin......when I have used it inside the house, it felt smaller than the typical bags I carry so the next time I get a birkin, it will be a 35 cm or a 32 cm HAC..... as for colors, I want something in the brown family or indigo/raisin..

I was just about to start ANOTHER new thread on this question and then remembered, Duh! I already started one I can use! ha ha ha.

Is 35cm Birkin too big for croc? Have you seen that one that blonde mother has on the reality show gastineau girls? it looks kind of tacky and fake. I'm considering diving into the croc waters again...so warn me now...but you all know I'm a 35cm girl at heart! Opinions?

^^ Any size croc is a good size depending on your needs. My avatar shows my 35 croc and I ALWAYS get compliments when I use it, even from men! Some would prefer the 30 croc for dinners but I would really use a croc Kelly for dinners and evenings and a 35 croc for day - the size just makes a statement and what the heck, if I'm spending that much money on a bag, it better make a bold statement <heehee>

Thank you for the input. I am hoping that you are right - that any croc will look good depending on the occasion. I want to believe!

No, unfortunately I walked in about 15 mins before closing, and I had to speak to Claude about two different matters so I did not really have time to look around other than to note what was on the shelf. I mostly went to say hello the my new SA, who was an absolute DREAM to me. My 35cm black kelly in clemence w/PH did arrive yesterday, though. I'm going back this weekend to do some damage - a little red croc wallet is sending me pitiful SOS messages! May have to take her home, have been holding out on adding red, but I think it's time. Oooh, how she gleams!

i have no personal experience, but i do love the look of the 30. it depends on the purpose of course, and how much you're carrying around, and also i suppose your own height, and style. here are some side-by-side pics for reference. from mika's blog.

Oh HiHeels thank you so much, that is the first time I've seen a side-by-side and that seals it... a 30cm for me. The whole proportion is so different and they're lucky to have one Birkin to try in my store - let alone 2 to compare.

At 5'4" and not reed thin 30 should do me nicely.

V. grateful :flowers: :flowers:

Great pics HH.

Does anyone know what the leather is on the 30 cm Birkin in the second photo in post 39? I think that may have been the leather on the 35 cm rouge H kelly at the Dallas store. I'm still so new at recognizing some of these leathers and would like to increase the knowledge base here. Thanks!
