Does anyone know whether or not they make Birkin 35cm in chevre? I think I'll need one 35cm in the future (tried one before and I can actually pull it off) but I was going to get it in fuchsia epsom and they're not offering that at the moment ...

Yes, they do. Pazt has a black 35 Birkin in coromandel and Gina_b has that stunning cognac one!

I just got a 30cm bag. it freaked me out at first since I was so used to my 35cm.

but I would always complain about the 35cm being super heavy

but I am used to the 30cm now and love it and love that is SO SO SO much lighter!

^^In general, for the traditional Birkin styles (not the JPG Birkin), no. Even if you are thin enough to get the straps over your shoulder, it's not the most comfortable way to wear it.
As for 30 vs. 35...I know there are many fans of 30 here on tPF but I must confess I am not one of them. I like the Birkin for its ability to hold LOTS of stuff and the 30 just doesn't do it for me. I also love the proportions of the 35 best. When I want something lighter, I carry a Bolide or Kelly.

^^ Me too Pepper! I don't own a single 30 yet....somehow the 35 is the perfect Birkin in my eyes (and in my humble opinion) so I just can't make myself get a 30. I gotta work aound that, and after seeing the pics of Melania ***** thanks to Serenity, I think I'm s-l-o-w-l-y warming up to a 30 Birkin.

both sizes have their advantages and disadvantages, just depends on your lifestyle. i love the 30 b/c it's not as deep as the 35 and i can get my wallet or phone faster with the 30. but that's just me. i actually can fit A LOT in my 30, granted not files, but all my essentials for the day plus more. like today was the first day that my 30 was nearly overstuffed... i had my wallet, cell phone, letters, 2 diapers and set of clothes for my baby boy, medium sized makeup bag, gloves, ear warmers, LV mini pouchette. and although it was getting heavy, it still retained a certain elegance. i'm hoping to get a 35 soon though just because i want one in case the 30 does feel small on days where i need to carry more.

I am 5'2 and 100 lbs and I have the 35. Most ppl would say a 30 would be a better size for someone like me but I think it really depends on you. I feel that I am a 35 girl. I think it suits my personality.

You should try on whatever size birkin that is ava at your store to get the feel of it. You will just know.....

Kou, they do make 35cm Chevre Birkins; I have a 35 Vermilion Chevre Mysore and I think PazT has a 35cm Black CDC.

If you're thinking about getting a 30cm and think it might look too dainty, I'd definitely consider a softer leather like Togo or Clemence. I remember getting my 30cm in Chevre and thinking how small it looked because it was so stiff and there were no batwings to make it look bigger. 4 years later ,it's loosened up, and I've come to really love the 30cm size despite the fact that I have mostly 35cms. It really is a nice respite from the heavy 35s and it holds all I need for the day. At the same time, I'm 5'3" so it doesn't look too precious on me.

I really need the 35 for the times I need to stick manila folders in it or even the laptop...
Unlike misspiggy, who is at least making a good-faith effort to be open-minded...I am not even interested in trying to like the 30! I remain committed to collecting Birkins only in 35 cm...would love black box but as we are speaking of chevre, would love raisin chevre...
The 35 is perfect for baby/kid stuff, my stuff (usually in the large chameleon insert which is just the greatest thing ever) and a few stray odds and ends.
Since I don't have time to go to the gym anymore, carrying the 35 is the only upper body work I am getting these days.

Thanks, girls.

No babies for me! At least, not yet. For now, it will have to hold my extra shoes and I often toss my lightweight laptop in there in an emergency. I'll let you know what I see in the Madison store when I stop in. Thanks for all the advice!

Lady Emma - at your height (5,6 if I remember) I think the 30cm would look good you, perhaps in a softer leather and a lighter colour, so it appears larger, a sheenier leather would appear larger too. It might do for when you want to bridge the gap between day and night without changing bags and need something a little more smart-casual rather than casual. I've agonised for weeks over the 30cm vs 35 cm size and although I have a 35 cm Kelly, I am going to go for the 30 cm Birkin and use it as a hangbag not a tote or travel bag. A small enough laptop would fit easily, not sure about shoes though. I quite liked the 30cm having less depth than the 35 cm, that swung it for me more than anything else, I think there's about an inch less depth in the 30cm Birkin, so it should be more streamlined than the 35cm and less likely to bump into things and a softer leather would benefit from fewer bumps.

Meant to add, have you considered a Bolide in 31cm? That way, you could stay faithful to your 35s and have a smaller bag with a completely different look.
