I love bag charms but don't always use them. For me it depends on the bag. Sometime, a charm doesn't look right & the bag is better showcased by itself. It also depends on what I'm wearing. Sometime a bag charm or fur ball adds just enough zing & sometimes it's a distraction. Right now, I'm carrying my MK Collection Lexi in Nubuck suede without any charm or enhancement. I really love the simplicity of the bag & let the beauty of the Suede stand out.

Although I think they are cute, they just seem to get in the way for me. So I usually just place
my key chain hand bag charm in my purse and use it as a coin purse instead of hanging it from my purse handle.

i am guilty of only being able to pair the same brand of charms with bags
so that limits me at times
and sometimes the charm may not go with the bag/occasion as others have mentioned
i do have to say that in my books charms should bring personality to the bags
but sometimes especially with some charms, it brings little other than a hefty price tag to show
less fun/personality in my humble opinion

No. Putting a charm on an already beautiful bag always feels like gilding the lily.

Same here. I like the charm and bag brands to match. And it depends on the bag and its use for me. I don't like charms just for the sake of them or feel like I must always have a charm. Only if it enhances the bag. The only charm I am currently using is the Coach stegosaurus on my Rogue.
I prefer my bags the way they come from the designer. I did see some of these fluffy ones in the store the other day and I was attracted to them to touch but not to buy. If a bag has some sort of fob or designer's initials or tassels, I leave those on.
