I’ve been looking at some vintage lvs lately because I do miss the attention to detail in them. I still love some of the new releases but the vintage bags are worth revisiting I think . Have you had any issue with sticky lining? I have seen some older bags that have deteriorated inside so I try to stick with textile lined bags .
I agree I came across alot of disgusting ones. This has no stickiness. No peeling nothing the only thing that it has was the inside pockets was kind of fuzzy now but other than that it came amazing. I think though I might get it re-done as far as vanchetta for myself.

well i think i am going to go for a tivoli pm preloved. i have always. thought that to be a really nice style. has anyone had any luck using a strap on occasion with tivoli pm???
I had this bag a couple of times, beautiful bag and well made, very feminine. I use it without strap but you may add strap just like others add strap onto classic speedys

Thanks for the reply. Yes that’s what I was planning to try with a strap . I was just wondering how comfortably it carried that way .

I love the vintage bags-quality was so much better & the bags were more substantial. In fact, I've been looking for an early Monceau Damier Ebene, but they don't seem to exist on the pre-loved market. Were they a special order bag or something?

I adore the vintage designs, and the only new designs that really catch my eye are the ones similar to the classics. A big part of the reason I haven't bought any newer ones beyond my Diane is because they've gotten so expensive and the quality has plummeted. I could toss my early 2000s bags off a cliff and they'd be fine, in contrast my Diane started showing wear on the leather flap piping within 3 months

I really feel like LV has been trying to appeal to the young influencer crowd by pumping out too many flashy, impractical 'statement bags' instead of sticking to what made them great in the first place. I'm simply not spending $5k on an impractical bag crafted from virgin unicorn hide that can be damaged by negative thoughts in a bright color that goes with nothing, won't fit my phone, with a puzzle box closure that will either summon Pinhead or earn eyerolls from everyone behind me in the checkout while I struggle to extract my wallet. I'll hit up ebay Japan for a classic for a few hundred bucks instead, no contest.

You said it so well! That is what I feel, too! These newer weirdly shaped trendy designs are to be found not only at LV, but I was really disappointed that they jumped this ship in the past decade instead of keeping doing what they do best, producing everlasting classic bags and luggage which are functional!

Meanwhile I actually prefer the men‘s collection as they stayed more true to the luggage theme and as men‘s bags are usually larger are actually functional for daily business. I wish, they would start making more sleeker women‘s pieces, too… However, I am also concerned by all the descriptions of the declining quality/durability of their products…

A question regarding the old classic shapes: I always admired the classic Grande Noe in Monogram Canvas, but never took the plunge.
For some time now I really have the desire for North/South bucket bags. Do you think it would be a good investment? Or is this bag also poorly made in the meantime….
Would love to hear anyones thoughts and experiences. TIA :flowers:

About the Monogram version, vintage vs. new I can‘t say anything as I do not own it in Monogram.
But I bought a preloved Grand Noe in brown Epi leather a few month ago and in terms of investment, for me, I am surprised that it was totally worth it, as I love using it for daily work commute! Fits so much, easy to carry and totally rain resistent.

So, if it might be worth for you depends on what kind of bag you like to use. If you like/need bigger bags might be a good option.

About Monogram quality, I have no idea. The vintage Epi is pretty sturdy. I think vintage monogram if you find a good preserved one, usually also is pretty sturdy. Newer Canvas, probably someone who owns a newer version might chime in…

I have the large Noe and it holds up really well. The thick bottom vachetta is durable and strong. You can put anything and everything in that bag and it'll hold up. I love mine and I've had it for years. I finally took it to LV to have all of the vachetta replaced and it looks brand new now, with the old canvas, too.
