Do you find yourself liking the old designs of Louis Vuitton bags?

I don’t know if I’m still considered a “young” customer at 30 but I liked the design 10 years ago when I was 20 and I still prefer them now. LV 10+ years ago was timeless. Now it’s trendy, much too trendy for someone who works in an office even if I consider our dress code pretty “business casual”. I gave my mom a “vintage” (I cant believe the young’uns consider early 2000’s vintage now ) Papillon 26 for special events and she never used it in the few years she had it, so I asked for it back. Now that Pap is back home I’ll be giving it some much deserved love!

I have vintage bags (truly vintage) from my mom which she received as gifts from my dad when he worked for Dior. Some of those styles have made an updated comeback today!

I like the new bags that look like vintage bags now. Mini luggage, Dauphine, Biface - monogram only. I don’t care for all the mix-n-match colors of the new bags.
Oh this is a great point - these are all bags that are right up my alley. I’m religiously stalking IG for updates and driving my CA insane asking about the Lugagge BB for fall. Can’t wait to get my hands on that bag!

I started collecting at age 24, just six years ago. I don't like a lot of the newer bags. Some have caught my eye, I purchased the Turenne last year. But most newer bags aren't my style. They do seem more flashy and young but I'm moving away from that. I still love the brand but I'm holding out for something that feels more me. Nothing wrong with that.

I 100% prefer the older designs. I started collecting LV in 2007 and I got rid of most of my LV bags to buy Chanel in 2014-2016. I recently began purchasing LV again but I hate most of the new styles. I especially find that I do not like all of these new styles with canvas and leather combinations. I prefer the classic styles like the neverfull, speedy, and neo noe. I’m also shocked that bags like the PM and PS backpack keep having quality issues. Now I’m going to France in less than a month and I’d like to buy a bag there but I don’t know what to buy! I will probably just buy another neverfull because they are my favorite workhorse bags.

I love these right now. I can’t wait to see the mini luggage bb. Just in the past six months, I bought the duffle which is a reinvented version of the bucket with the full vachetta bottom and the boite chapeau souple which also reminds me of LVs older round shapes. It has the leather piping to connect seams and sides. The colorful pieces and the newer monogram designs are pretty to look at but I don’t feel confident that the style of construction can withstand daily use. I’m not comfortable with folded corners or styles that require too much glazing.

I have one classic bag -- the Trevi PM -- that I don't think I'll ever tire of. There is so much craftsmanship in it, with details that I don't see much of in the newer models. That said, I'm very happy with my new monogram/bordeaux leather V Tote MM -- it has a classic vibe to it. There's nothing trendy about it and it has detailing that heralds back to the classic days -- rolled handles instead of flat, judicious, almost minimal, use of bling, folds and pleats, and even a secret compartment. IMO, it looks luxurious but subtle. It's the type of bag that first drew me to LV...I just hope the materials and workmanship wear as well as the design!

Even new, I am stil finding myself leaning towards the classic bags - with the exception of the speedy B (which is still pretty classic) If I were to purchase new, it would still be a speedy, speedyB, alma, Noe, etc. I like the new takes on the classics such as the MWT, Grace Coddington, etc, as well as the bb versions of the classics. Nothing much else has caught my eye enough to warrant the money.

You’re so lucky!! How I wish my mom was into designer purses too so that she can hand me down something..

I was almost at the same age as you when I started getting into Louis Vuitton and even though they look more for office / work type, I still love them even upto now! Especially now that those “dressy” bags can be dressed down to wear with jeans. They look pretty!

I am actually looking forwArd to repurchasing some of my old collections as I am missing them and I had to sold them due to financial difficulties a few years back..
