Do you feel guilty about money spent on designer bags?

which auction site is it?.... i have been looking bags up on ebay...but am reluctant as i dont know there are so many fakes out there...how can one be absolute sure....i joined purse forum bcs i wanted to get one of the bag authenticated but so far havent made enough posts...and then i dont know how it works....

Bonanza. I have bought from there a couple of times. Lots of the sellers on Bonanza are here on TPF also. There are some divided opinions on whether that is a good thing or not, lol, but I am pretty trusting. I don't think there are many (or maybe even ANY) fake Hayden Hartnett items out there.

Good luck.

I was referring to the fact that if you Google the subject there are differing opinions on how reliable TPFers are, etc.
I think it's a load of hooey. I have had nothing but good experiences on Bonanza and with TPFers. Sorry if I gave any other impressions.

I love this site and the folks here have been very welcoming and helpful to me.

Sometimes I feel a twinge of guilt, just because I think about how much bigger my savings would be had I not invested so much in bags, shoes, jewelry, etc. And tPF keeps me wanting more!!

Sometimes! I try to think about how much use I'll get out of it & how much time I've spend researching and making sure it's perfect for me. I only buy bags if I am absolutely infatuated with them anyways.. :)

Only when the quality of the bag turns out to be bad. I recently bought a bag that was the most expensive I've ever gotten but it's actually the one I feel least guilty about because I like it so much and the quality is good. The problem is more when you get a bag and it doesn't really seem worth the money, then it stays on my mind a little.

I've never felt guilty over buying something expensive. I know I can afford to buy one, but if I tell someone (else than you tpf people) about it ... I feel guilty THEN :p

I have been lusting over the Stresa PM since last summer!!! I don't have kids or a mortgage, but I do have student loans. I've always felt guilty buying any designer bags. I own a few, but I never used my own money to purchase them. My husband says I deserve to treat myself, however, he doesn't understand what's the obsession with an overpriced bag. Neither do I, but I love it anyway!!!

I don't feel bad.

I buy all my expensive items with cash, not credit.
I also don't neglect any of my other payment obligations for a bag
Savings always comes first and what is left is extra
Good communication with my husband about purchasing a luxury item and his thoughts. ( he has and always will give me the world but if I'm impulse shopping for the sake impulse shopping, he will let me know lol)

This is what I do, by no means am I putting anyone down who does the exact opposite but this what has helped me not live with any shopping regrets :)

Well, since I haven't paid more than $200 on a bag yet, I haven't felt too guilty. But I have paid more for watches and jewelry, and I buy expensive paint without blinking. (Gallons and gallons! :happydance:)

I process the guilt before I buy. I analyze it to death, then I ask my gut if it's the right decision, then I wait a month to see if I still want it or if it's still available. Guess that takes a lot of the fun out of shopping. But I get to look at more options, which is 95% of the fun. When I buy, I appreciate it more because I know I made the right decision.
