Do you ever wear a HS as a headwrap as in H.com?

I wear H 70cm silk or cotton as hairbands, and an ancient 90cm silk as a head wrap on the beach .
I do find thinner nonH silks work better because there's less bulk .
Best to leave face makeup off I think!
The turban look is sensational on a younger person, I saw a couple of girls in H trying a lovely bright carré this way .It was tied very tightly and I was horrified that they were allowed to try a scarf this way , yuk for the eventual buyer .
A lot of girls in my edgy area wear non H silks this way , but go for the whole look : ankle socks , mainly black and grey minimalist clothing….fab.
.
Here is my head wrap look in Provence , just a bias fold covering all front hair and tied towards one side .A well worn scarf ideally . softer anymore drapey.View attachment 3429962View attachment 3429963

Shocking

You look lovely with this band and with the 1940s turban look

I can vouch that Papertiger rocks the scarf headband look like no other ! You're an inspiration!

:hugs:

Papertiger, you are my "scarf on head"-guru.
I have already had saved most of these photos in my "Scarf knots" file. You give me confidence for trying out new things.
You are awesome, thanks!

Wonderful hairbands Honeylocks, do I spy a Bain de mer and maybe a Mythique Phoenix?

Wow, that is quite something!
You look like a movie star from the 60ies.
Great look!

Thank you both:flowers: I've so enjoyed playing with head wraps , and I shall definitely be sporting a turban on the beach and possibly hiking in the Alps …. though a hat does keep the UVs off the aged skin .
Still a scarf will be carried at all times , so useful .

I stayed with a French family years ago and another house guest sprained her arm and used her H scarf as a sling. It was a classic pale pink one , probably Springs or B de G .

a braid helps securing the silk at the head

and sometimes a bolduc has to do the job of keeping hair out of the faceView attachment 3429992

Quelle Fromage mentioned turbans which set me off to play with a my ancient Brides de Gala. I would definitely wear this on holiday and may even go out around London if i use a nicer scarf .View attachment 3429993

So excited to see so many photos here. I've never thought of combining the ring and the scarf on the head. Good tips! I don't have my romance belt (It looks so stylish how you wear it, papertiger!!) or mors ring with me right now but I do have the Chiene d'Ancre. I can't wait to try it in the next few days!

Honeylocks I especially love that braiding style. You wear it beautifully! Although I've seen H done it on some mod shots before but it never came to mind when I'm wearing a scarf.

Frou Frou, this is such a perfect style for vacation! You look very chic here.

Fabulous pictures, PaperTiger!

I wanted to mention to Cavalla that I've never had a problem getting makeup on my scarf from wearing as a a headband, and I looooove makeup. Also, while the silks slip, mousselines hold tight!

That happened to me on a humid 100+ summer day. I pulled back all my hair and wore a maxi twilly on my head. I was literally melting that day and I guess so was my makeup. Luckily it wasn't a problem getting it off. I was quite upset when I saw it. So for now I either put almost none foundation near my hairline or wear the scarf over my bangs. Maybe I didn't tie the scarf tight enough that it slid more? I don't know..

I'm going to Sri Lanka for vacation next week, it'll for sure involve a lot of scarf on head!:angel::angel::cool::cool::cool:

I have naturally wavy hair and gavs, 70s and 90s don't slip (I don't even use a hair grip). I find MTs too heavy around the head (don't forget they're double-sided) they will slip because of the weight.

Foundation or TM etc, wait 5 mins before putting on the scarf and keep the scarf behind the hairline. If you use a scarf for an across the forehead style wear a hairband underneath, keeps better in place too (as ballet dancers do). Simples!

'Patron saint' of the head-wrap and such an inspiration for me in many ways, prima ballerina assoluta, Natalia Markova, (although not wearing H in these I don't think).

Nicer scarf?

What a great headwrap style icon. I can definitely take some inspirations from her. Thanks for sharing.

My hair is naturally wavy too so I think it has something to do with the head shape. Those who have fuller back of the head are lucky. They might even have the 140 silk stay put on their heads easily. Unfortunately I'm not one of them. I'm going to try wearing them over a hair band and see how it works.

I stayed with a French family years ago and another house guest sprained her arm and used her H scarf as a sling. It was a classic pale pink one , probably Springs or B de G .

I did that once and my mom was horrified by such a casual use of a scarf! She only let it go because it was showcased in the booklet ;)

I've tried the headscarf, but I always look like a maid, just like others look like a stewardess with the scarf around their neck ;) maybe I should try again now that I have a MT

Great thread!
I am so guilty of wearing my H silks on my head, only rarely as pictured at hermes.com.
My hair is my favourite part of my appearance, but I do not like it in my face, so I often wear something to keep it out. It also happens every now and then that I leave the house with a scarf around my neck, but as temperature rises during the day I slide it up on my head. I quite like that look.
70ies work very well, my Jardin sur le Nil-Twilly is extra cute, the teal silk bandana gives a completely different vibe.
The 90ies are a bit tricky, since there is so much fabric to manage. A scarf ring at the side (or a ring on both sides) works magic. Mostly I put the middle of the bias at my neck, twist the tails around each other (like what PocketbookPup called the GeorgesV-Knot, not like a turban) and knot at the neck.
I also wore a scarf turban style once or twice, but it made me feel insecure. Ring helps here as well.
Well yes, they do not stay in place as well as cotton or velvet, but readjusting every now and then does not hurt (it helps that I do not like to wear make up).

I think this is my first post since the big update, lets see if I manage attaching pictures...
