Did you stop buying/using contemporary bags once you go luxury?

Nope, going Luxe after a few Longchamps ja Kors’ didn’t stop me from going back to contemporary.

After a few Vuittons I visited the Chanel seller Della Marga in Finland late last summer. I’ve been eyeing the Boy bag as I absolutely love the style and edgy look it has. I tried on the new medium (I think) on and it ended up being too short for me to wear crossbody... Afterwards I tried on the Rebecca Minkoff Love bag and it looked perfect crossbody so I’m definately looking into buying one.

I just can’t forkout all that money on a Le Boy when it’s a bit off. I’d much rather get the look for a fraction of the money and get the symmetry I’m looking for.

I’m also on the hunt for a perfect mini bag and strongly leaning towards the Furla Metropolis in radiant yellow :girlsigh:

I have a couple of jumbo Love bags from last year that were on sale. I can't see myself spending $$$$ for a Chanel when I can get a pretty good substitute for under $150.

I buy premier with the odd exception either because I fall victim to a fad (like the MG bucket) or for fashion brands that I like design wise, like I have an APC crossbody or Acne Studios SLGs. I have never bought or considered anything from Michael Kors, Longchamp, Rebeca Minkoff, Coach, Kate Spade or European equivalents like Furla, Carolina Herrera or Liebeskind... It just doesn’t ocurr to me...

I would still buy contemporary if I truly love the bag and think it'd be a unique and useful addition. I bought a Longchamp LePliage and a Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC even though my three other bags are luxury, to give an idea. I will say that I look at contemporary less now to be completely honest. I usually set my sights on a particular bag and buy bags few and far between, so I don't make any impulse purchases or browse at contemporary bags. I typically know exactly what I want next and I tend to like very specific bags that I consider big purchases which require thought and saving. I know some people like the variety of a larger collection, but I prefer to keep my own collection small and practical and get a ton of use out of a select few luxury bags.

I don't think Contemporary vs Premiere is what I use to determine which bags to purchase, but I seem to have developed a pattern of gravitating towards leather or suede linings only lately. I'm definitely moving away from LV (which was my first step into Premiere) because of all the canvas, the declining quality, and the fact that only their top lines feature a leather lining (ie. Capucines). I seem to be most enamoured by Celine and Coach 1941 right now. The leather quality and construction are superb, and branding is very discreet for both brands.

As per title, Or have you purchased less expensive bags lately despite your luxury collection? If yes, which bag is it and why? I would love to hear your thoughts!
Original question- Yes, once I started buying LV products, gave all but one of my D&B's away. (My hairdresser was so thrilled with the D&B bag and wallet I gave her, and others went to Salvation army.) I can't turn back!

When I was in my 20s I was pretty obsessed with premier bags only. Chanel, Chloe, Dior, YSL, LV, Gucci, Balenciaga. After dipping my toe in most of the premier brands I found out Balenciagas were the ones that I loved most and I became obsessed with them. Bought and sold probably 30 something of those bags. (I just felt too guilty spending that much money on bags.) I ended up keeping a few premier bags mainly just Bal & one Chanel & a Givenchy. About a year ago I discovered Coach1941 bags and have been happily buying them. For me, I'm no longer obsessed with having the latest IT bag. I've sort of moved on to just buying bags for fun and for me that just means whatever catches my eye! Maybe it will be a Coach1941 or a Balenciaga oldie. But I doubt I will ever buy another Chanel though, the price increases just about killed it for me. I have my one boy bag and that's it.

Yes love welcome to the 1941 love side!!! When I got my Rogue Satchel 36 it was 995 and the speedy 35 was 990 and I got the Rogue 36 instead because it’s made out of the best leather I’ve ever felt and fully suede interior and just so luxe and gorgeous. And the speedy 35 is just a sack of coated canvas and id be kicking myself for buying a canvas sack. Also a LOT OF PEOPLE think that LV is leather lol. I don’t know why but they are under the impression that the coated canvas is leather and that’s why they think they’re getting a good bag, they don’t know it’s actually just a coated canvas.

Welcome to the 1941 club love! It’s the best bang for your buck all around. Great bags and will last for generations.

Yes love the Jumbo love is a great bag and personally Chanel leather isn’t what is used to be. The older Chanel’s were made with better leather, Ive had friends that bought the Chanel backpack and it fell apart after a week. The lambskin is dangerously fragile in the new Chanel’s and you can see videos on YouTube of the wear and tear of new Chanel’s. Definitely go for the Minkoff love it’s the style you want and the leather will probably last longer and you can fit more inside.

I'm currently eyeing the new Keith Haring Heart bag...

Isn’t it crazy that some ppl think that LV mono canvas or DE is actually leather? Lol they tell me that all the time at Neiman Marcus and Bloomies (where the LV boutiques are). That people think it’s actially leather when it’s coated canvas. Because LV does have a nice smell people really think they’re getting a full leather bag. But next to an 1941 you can tell the massive difference. The fragrant 1941 leather is amazing and LV is just coated canvas and those without purse knowledge (especially men buying for their wives) think LV js that price because it’s leather. Lol plus LVS actual leather isn’t very nice. It doesn’t have a nice smell and it isn’t soft or high quality like you’d assume a 3k bag would feel like.
