Did you stop buying/using contemporary bags once you go luxury?

Good point. At least the mock croc carriers confuse the thieves so you can get the girls out of the closet for a stroll. Plus, doesn’t it make you feel like you have a cool secret carrying a special piece that only you know about? I enjoy that “secret luxury” thing , probably too much. Lol
Luckily there Were no thieves about last Wednesday -I went for coffee with a friend , got up, chatting and walked out..leaving behind my Raylowi navy crocodile Birkin lookalike bag, full of cards, phone, keys etc.

Fortunately , a Very nice man came after me..I don’t look old enough to be carrying a croc Birkin..I retrieved my bag gratefully, but it could have ended in disaster!

No. I had one contemporary handbag for work and I have still been using the same one for years even after buying luxury. I prefer luxury handbags, they’re my weakness but I also don’t like a huge collection.

I have a couple contemporary handbags for
1. Rainy days
2. Work
3. Festivals, concerts or tight crowded places
3. Travel, where I am out and about, doing an outdoor holiday. If I am in a big city or in Europe I’ll carry my luxury handbags

Not quite. I got my first Hermes Kelly in 2010 and still got a Mansur Gavriel, Proenza, and Longchamp Pliage bags. Also accumulated more Hermes bags (incl. Birkins) and other luxe brands at the same time.

The majority of my bag and accessories purchases are in the luxury segment, but I didn’t totally abandon the contemporary segment. Everything has its purpose.

I will also buy a Freitag tarp messenger once I find the perfect colour. Will put a sticker on for an event (branding/marketing purposes).

My collection has expanded, contracted, and veered back and forth in balance (wildly at some points) but I have always had a decent representation of "old chestnut" contemporary bags mixed in. I've pared down a _lot_ in the last year or so and currently am at about 25% contemporary.

I still buy contemporary! It just depends on the bag. I want to say I’d only buy premier for things like clutches but my favorite clutch of absolutely all time happens to be a Michael Kors 💁🏻‍♀️ So you just never know. I went through a year or two where I thought I wouldn’t buy contemporary anymore but I still do.

I have some luxury pieces like Chanel, Fendi, ans Givenchy but I still buy lower than contemporary. I just recently bought this Athletic Works tote from Walmart. I can't go full on luxury. I think someone above said there is a time and place for everything.
