depends on ear size i suppose. wish i've bigger ears so i can carry off bigger earrings, mine are very small, almost no lobe. freaky

my studs are close to .7 iirc.

opps sorry my mistake.
correction : do you think that diamond stud earrings should be smaller than your diamond ring?

I don't think it is a necessity, I think it is more important to look good and proportional on your ears, than compare the size with e ring. Some ppl have extremely small ears and they can't carry big studs, and the opposite, they wear bigger studs because of their anatomy. I hope this makes sense.

I was wearing cz in my early twentys, and they were not big, just decorative and a sensible size for office wear, not too flashy or too small. When I stopped working I got real ones, and so far I have no intention on upgrading.

Finally got my diamond studs:yahoo:
specs are as follow
GIA cert: .71 and 0.72 carat . Both are Triple Excellent cut. G color. SI2 clarity

as refresh
I am 30 yo
total carat weight 1.43
next, i am aiming for a larger solitaire;)

My grandmother gave me 1 cttw studs when I turned 13. My parents gave me 2 cttw studs when I turned 18. When I turned 30, I was given 6 cttw. I'm still not admitting I'm a day over 28 ;) I love my studs (all high quality/color), but I wear my largest pair most frequently. It's not hard to get used to larger diamonds sparkling about :graucho:

Congratulations!! I just saw you posted these! Your studs are absolutely lovely & suit your ear completely. I think you made a great choice! Wear them in good health.

I am 30 and would like 2ctw, however I worry about losing them if the backs come off especially since my husband loves to touch my face. That has happened before with my earrings so I'm not sure if I want to spend so much on something I could lose easily!

Thanks SimoneR. :DI actually wanted to go larger but my friend suggested that this is big enough for me. Since this is my first pair of diamond studs I will wear it daily and if still have the feeling of getting a bigger one, then i will upgrade it in a year. Do you think that my ear lobes can go with bigger diamond studs
woow.. you have 6cttw and you are 30yo now... any modelling pic?

arnott.. you are lucky to have 2ctw diamond studs. I do understand your fear about losing them

OP, your studs look gorgeous on you! Congrats!

As for me, I never had diamond studs, until I was 34. I bought my 1st certified pair of 1ct studs back then, I was very depressed because of some unfortunate life events and needed a 'face lift'. This purchase served its's purpose! It helped me to get out of emotional ditch, and I never bought another pair of studs since, because these are of so much emotional value for me. I know this might not be your 'typical' response, but just wanted to share my experience. Good luck to you!

Hi Ladies, do you agree with my friend's saying that Diamond stud earrings should look bigger than your diamond ring? ?

please share your opinion or should i open a new thread?

I think they should look 'in sync' with ur ring, It all depends on the size/cut........I have 2 1ct solitaire rings, that look completely different, because of the setting and cut. One looks very small, the other looks twice bigger, because of clarity/cut/setting. So match ur ring to whatever studs you have - that is my best advice. GL!!

Hi liuyinn, thanks again for popping in here :smile1: do you think that the ring and the stud earrings should have similar specs (color, clarity, cut, size)?

I had my first pair made from diamons in my father's cufflinks, so obviously they were .20 total. Then at 25 I got .50. Finally I got 2.00whent I was 50. I think 2.00 is a universally good size that one would never be ashamed to have. I am suspicious of gals with very large suds, as they may not be real, not that that is awful. I heard a designer from Tiffany and Co. say that every woman should not where anything larger that .50 each ear as that is the ideal size to enhance her beauty! I figured if it came from T&Co it must have some validity!!! I do think ultimately I'd like to own 4.0 totals, but not until I'm ready to feel like a matron!!!lol
