Oh No...I can see you've got "the itch"! LOL! It starts as a little voice but eventually rears it's ugly head. Save your pennies then go to a good jeweler who does trade-ins/trade-ups. The price point shouldn't be tremendous with a trade-in. I'll be waiting for your reveal........:graucho:

Thanks skyqueen! My jeweler takes trade-ins so that part will be easy. I agree...I've already taken the big hit going from 1.5 to 3.5! Maybe later this year....some days I feel they are big enough and other days they seem a little small.

Hopefully this will be your last upgrade...try everything in a few sizes (even if you try CZs...just to get the idea). I thought I wanted 4 TCW but when I tried on the 4.97 TCW, I was hooked. I'm very tall, though...that's my excuse and I stick to it! LOL!

When I was in my 20's, my first pair diamond studs were .50 my 30's, 1.5 carats now, I am 40, I have 2.0 carats on wires, studs with jackets that totals 2.0 carats and triangle shape inside out diamond hoops 1.50 carats.

I think at 30 1.5 carat studs would be perfect for you.

Hi all. I am addicted to the diamond stud related threads. I read some where that if you are wearing big diamond earring it might look fake on people's eyes. may be this is unlikely to happen if you wear large carat size and you are at your right age (say 40 yo with 2 ctw or above)

My first studs were probably .30 total at age 21. Then I upgraded to around .66 several years later. I upgraded about 4 years ago to 1ctw.

I think my next pair will be 1.5ctw or whatever is close to $4400, which is double my trade in value of the studs I own now.

I love big diamonds. I currently have a 1.9 carat solitaire on my finger and hope to go up to 3 carats someday. I think its hilarious when I see girls talking about how their 0.25 carat ring is all that their dainty, tiny fingers can handle! However, when it comes to earrings, I am kind of the same way. I have really tiny earlobes. It might be the way they are pierced, but my ear can't hold anything more than about 0.25 carats. The lobe on my right ear starting tearing even with 0.25. I am jealous of all you girls that can do more.

I got my first pair at 16 they were 25 cttw
25 hubby got me 50 cttw
38 bought myself 1.0 cttw

I can only have 1/2 carats in each ear. I have the ear size of a kid and this fills the whole earlobe. Because my earlobe is totally covered by the stud people always think they are bigger then they are. My daughter will get bigger one's she has big earlobes.

my parents gave me a pair of 2.40ctw studs when i was 22 as a college graduation present... i have small lobes and do think that they are a little large for me unless it's a special occasion, so i hardly wear them. i am 27 now and still have them. they will be around for a very long time into the far future !

guess i should start my search for 1ctw ones for every day wear ! :amuse:

hi nld in nyc -- mind to tell us how old are you now?
woow.. 1.9 carat ring is very good, of course 3 carat is even better ;) i think the 'look' is 'balance' as my friend once told me you don't want your diamond stud earrings bigger than your ring.
I will go to see the diamonds i request for in few days.

Hi Ladies, do you agree with my friend's saying that Diamond stud earrings should look bigger than your diamond ring? ?

please share your opinion or should i open a new thread?
