1.50 carats total would be substantial and attractive at your age. A lot depends on the shape of your earlobe too. Many women look great with a small pair on smaller earlobes. I am afflicted with very thick earlobes and larger size studs offsets them. :p

I'm not sure how accurate the images in that link are :-s

At 28 I got little bitty ones, no idea what size and they weren't good quality.
At 25 Dh bought me a nice pair when I delivered our DD so that I could pass them on to her one day, maybe about 1cttw.
Around 30 he bought me another pair that are 2cttw.

I started with 2 TCW in my thirties and ended up with 4.97 TCW (G/SI1).
I'm done unless Sandra Bullock wants to give me her gorgeous antique diamond drop earrings!

ITA! Best case scenario for me is slightly bigger studs and a gorgy pair of drop earrings!

0.5 cttw in 20s
1.5 cttw at ~30
3.5 cttw in late 30s

Should have gotten 4 cttw like I wanted but thought the 3.5's were big enough. I see me going to 4 at some point in the future, but I'm in no rush.

I wear them every day unless I put on special occasion earrings....so they are definitely worth it for me.

Oh No...I can see you've got "the itch"! LOL! It starts as a little voice but eventually rears it's ugly head. Save your pennies then go to a good jeweler who does trade-ins/trade-ups. The price point shouldn't be tremendous with a trade-in. I'll be waiting for your reveal........:graucho:

in my late 20s my dh gave me a tiny pair; i can't remember the cttw but they were tiny and cute!
when i had our first child at 35 he gave me 1.62 cttw. i wear them everyday and LOVE them!

I'm actually picking up my first pair of studs this week....they are 3.5 tcw and I am 30. I have other diamond earrings, but have yet to buy a real pair of plain studs. My other diamond earrings are studs, but a heart design made of small rounds and baguettes and are 5 tcw. I think it depends on your taste and what you can (or are comfortable) with spending.....

Get the size you will be comfortable with on your ear and can afford.

Hi Swanky, are you referring to this http://www.ajediam.com/Sizes-of-Diamonds.html?
it does seem to me that the images appear 'larger' than the real one.

That is so true

It is great to know everyone's preference in carat size in different age

I wear diamond studs day in day out.. Bought my 1st pair 1cttw when i was 22.
Traded them for 2cttw for my 30th bday..
Have another emerald cut pair 3 cttw..I switch them around for variety!

But for my 40th.. Hope to get 4 cttw!!! Fingres crossed..lol

I have tiny earlobes. My only pair of studs is around .98 tcw. They are bezel set and take up my whole earlobe.(In other words, it does depend on the ear. I have nice long fingers though, so I moved my carats there instead. :graucho:

Good luck with your search!
