My hubby got me .05 total weight (this is not a typing mistake) when we were first married. Iwas 26. They were in a butterfly setting and I loved them.
I had nothing in between and when I was fifty (now some time ago) he got me 1.80 ctw. They are each .90 which looks like 1 carat each especially because they are H VS AGS000 H &A earrings.
It just happened that they were a fiftieth birthday present, I would not presume to tell anyone else they should wait until fifty to get larger studs.
This is the size I want forever,I am not looking to ever upgrade but hey, if you want 4 ctw or 5 ctw, and you can afford them, I say, go ahead and get them (but just make sure that you get those bigger earring backs because droop is not pretty and torn earlobes are worse).
I know teenage girls who have luxury handbags and jewelry--I do not look at anyone and assume that their things are fake because they are young. And 30 is certainly old enough to wear what you want. Go try on a few pairs and see what you would like, buy them and enjoy them if you can afford them (other money in the bank and not putting them on CC).
My earrings are MUCH larger than my e-ring which is .33 ct and they are also larger than my anniversary ring which is .66 ct. Maybe the earring police will come and take them away from me? But when I got married, .33 was what you got (actually, if you were lucky, diamonds were expensive in the 80's). Idon't feel like switching out my e-ring--I am sentimental. and I don't have big fingers so wouldn't wear bigger than .66-.75 every day. I am getting a larger ring (2 ctw) but am thinking of it as a cocktail ring, not an everyday ring, though I do wear my earrings every day.
