Diamond studs - sizing help

My hubby got me .05 total weight (this is not a typing mistake) when we were first married. Iwas 26. They were in a butterfly setting and I loved them.
I had nothing in between and when I was fifty (now some time ago) he got me 1.80 ctw. They are each .90 which looks like 1 carat each especially because they are H VS AGS000 H &A earrings.

It just happened that they were a fiftieth birthday present, I would not presume to tell anyone else they should wait until fifty to get larger studs.

This is the size I want forever,I am not looking to ever upgrade but hey, if you want 4 ctw or 5 ctw, and you can afford them, I say, go ahead and get them (but just make sure that you get those bigger earring backs because droop is not pretty and torn earlobes are worse).

I know teenage girls who have luxury handbags and jewelry--I do not look at anyone and assume that their things are fake because they are young. And 30 is certainly old enough to wear what you want. Go try on a few pairs and see what you would like, buy them and enjoy them if you can afford them (other money in the bank and not putting them on CC).

My earrings are MUCH larger than my e-ring which is .33 ct and they are also larger than my anniversary ring which is .66 ct. Maybe the earring police will come and take them away from me? But when I got married, .33 was what you got (actually, if you were lucky, diamonds were expensive in the 80's). Idon't feel like switching out my e-ring--I am sentimental. and I don't have big fingers so wouldn't wear bigger than .66-.75 every day. I am getting a larger ring (2 ctw) but am thinking of it as a cocktail ring, not an everyday ring, though I do wear my earrings every day.

I don't think there is a rule, but what you can afford, like etc.. I have over 4 ctw diamond ring and 4 something studs, I am tall and they don't look too big, I upgraded 3 times before getting this size.

Finally got my diamond studs:yahoo:
specs are as follow
GIA cert: .71 and 0.72 carat . Both are Triple Excellent cut. G color. SI2 clarity

as refresh
I am 30 yo
total carat weight 1.43
next, i am aiming for a larger solitaire;)

congratulations on your earrings!!! Beautiful!!

To answer your initial question, I wear my diamond studs daily - they are 1.01 total carat weight. I got them as a gift this past Christmas from my husband. I am 32.

But I really think it depends on your earlobe size. My earrings are perfect for daily wear.

Hi liuyinn, thanks again for popping in here :smile1: do you think that the ring and the stud earrings should have similar specs (color, clarity, cut, size)?

Basically, you can't go wrong with better quality....LOL However, it doesn't necessary mean they should be more expensive. I think that in lower-end department stores, like Macys, diamonds and other stones are hit-or-miss, meaning they could be great quality or a disaster for the same price. So if the price matters, do your homework, visit several stores, and pick the best - that's what I do anyway :D As for ther size - my studs match my diamond pendant precisely - same ct value, quality and cut, but only match 2 of my solitaire rings - other 2 are different cut/setting. I don't think it's that big of a deal, honestly! :smile1:

Ladies, there are no rules, LOL!
There is no rules about size of stud vs size of diamond ring.
Rock what YOU like, stop worrying about "rules" that don't exist!

wow - you gals have some big ol' rocks! I have a pair of 1/4 carat (each so 1/2 carat TW) and i love them! I got them when i was about 25 and i think they're so timeless ... i wear them almost every day ...

I just received a pair for my 30th birthday from my husband. They are 1 carat total weight and set in platinum and I adore them. I have really small earlobes so they look even bigger on them, ha ha.
