I just got a pair from Tiffany's and they are smaller than all of yours (.34, i think) but they are perfect for me. I wanted a pair I can keep in at all times. I have small lobes and am small in general so feel they suit my needs. I definitely feel like the size really depends on your style.

I have double piercings and keep my 1ct total studs in the top pierce. That frees me to wear other style earrings for my MANY moods and personalities. I started out at 1/4 ct. total, then upgraded to 1/2 total (in platinum) then finally to 1 ct. total (in a mucho lovely platinum mounting). I'm too poor to go for 1 carat per ear because like the rest of you ladies, my standards for color/clarity are very high and I still have to eat!


If I did go any bigger, they would go in the lower piercing and the 1 carat total I now have would stay in my second piercing. I've got a pair of CZ studs that are equivalent to 1 carat each and they would be HUGE on my ears in the top piercing!

I'd be great if we could have pictures of you all with your diamond stud earrings on, with info on size. I always find it hard to picture what different sizes will look on my ears. Anybody care to share?

I'm game! I just have to figure out which earrings to wear in the lower piercing.

Hee, hee: the DH will think I've lost it when he sees me taking pictures of my EAR!!!:roflmfao:

Here's my shamefully sexy ear with the 1/2 carat stud in the top pierce (and my favorite London Blues in the lower pierce). :queen: (pardon the dusty mirror! You get this closeup and every speck of it is magnified!!)

Hey Prada ... thanks for posting your picture. I love both earrings! I think it's very chic to wear the stud on the top paired with a dangly or a larger earring on the bottom. Is that 1/2 total or individual weight, ie, is that one stud 1/2 or 1/4 carat?

Thanks! The stud in my ear in the picture is 1/2 carat, so my pair is 1 carat total.

Thanks, LH! Have you settled on a size yet? My two cents worth: I don't think going from 1.25 per ear to 1.50 per ear is worth the insane price increase in terms of them looking larger to the rest of the planet. But if you've got it, then by all means go BIG! You can see by my picture that it would overwhelm my second pierce to go any larger. So I'm happy with mine.


However if any of you guys want to give me your 2 carat per ear hand me downs, that's just fine with me. :nuts:

Help...no haven't settled yet. I have the 3.00 total wt. (1.50 each ear) right now and they are I think too large. I don't know. The 1.25 each ear were a little small...what do I do?? My earlobes are small and my ears don't stick out so you have to be at the side of my face to see them. Suggestions please...

oprah's diamond studs - the ones she use on her show - are just TDF! but they are HUGE, probably 10cts each ear. it looks fab on her. it suits her perfectly.

It's all about the table I guess. . . If 1.5 looks too big, bt 1.25 isn't big enough, then maybe you need to see a few more pairs in those sizes. Each set will have different depths and measurements across the face/top/table of the diamond, so even 2 pairs of the exact same weight can look very different.

One of my favorite topics. :smile1:

My pair is 1.5 carat total weight (so .75 per ear) princess cut, set in platinum. What I really wanted were 2 carat totals, but I couldn't afford them-- 1.5 totals are almost as big and a lot more reasonably priced.

If money were no object though, I'd go as big as I could afford. Big diamonds are gorgeous! I'd love to be able to wear 1.5-2 carats per ear.
