Thank you for your time xxJust my 2 cents.
Skip Cartier/Tiffany...no stats up front, no sale. This goes for any retailer.
2 tcw (slightly smaller .87-.97 each stone to save a bit of money and look the same), G/H (will face up white), VS2/SI1 (for earrings) is good enough. As long as the cut is ex/ideal those babies will sparkle! AME can help you with the diamond stats.
Also consider a 3 prong martini setting.....................
"Diamond shrinkage" always sets in for most people...trust me on this. When in doubt error on the larger size.
Keep us posted...how exciting!
Haha! I wish she same was my next door neighbor too lolAgreed! I know there is a trend that bigger is better (watches, diamond studs) but to stand the test of time, as they say, the size you have it great. If you want to go up to 1 carat, that would be okay, but not much bigger than that to have them suitable for decades to come.
And Ame is great. Wish she was my next door neighbor or something!
I agree with posts that for diamond studs, cut is more important than color or clarity. You want the earrings to sparkle and excellent cut will give you that.
I personally would not buy diamond studs from Cartier or Tiffany, not worth paying premium for the sake of the brand name.
I have 1 carat for each ear and love the size. Not too big and not too small.
Good luck. You have great resources here.

Thank you for the feedback. I am being a sponge right now and soaking in all the advise here.
Thank you! I actually saw the martini setting today on bluenile and it looked really sleek. I am strongly considering it. Thank you for your time Moirai xx
Agreed!I strongly recommend martini settings!![]()
I had the same problem and had my jeweler adjust (bend) the post a bit and bought elephant backs...perfect now.One quick comment on the martini setting...make sure you actually try them on first. I loved that setting too, but it must be how my ears are pierced, because when I tried the martini setting on they made the earrings look lopsided....just weird. I had to get the basket setting and I love it.
I think it really depends on what you think you will do with the stones. If you're always going to keep them as earrings or possibly have them reset one day. I had my mothers earrings set into a dinner ring when she passed. I am so very glad she had wonderful stones. The ring wouldn't be as beautiful as it is unless they were good. For me, size isn't as important as the quality of stone but everyone should purchase what they value.Bigger is better. You will not regret it.
VVS is not so important in earrings, but IMHO color definitely is.
You can buy from Cartier or Tiffany but if you go with diamonds without the designer name you will get a much better price. Shop around!

Hi!
I'll give my opinions, hope I don't miss anything!
1} IMO shapes needn't match, no need to match ring stone to earrings
2} I personally prefer martini settings. Size is very personal and also may differ depending on your earlobe size. I wear 2 ct. and they don't seem large at all to me. I have normal size ears but don't have tiny earlobes so that may make a difference, also I live in an area where they don't stand out or look remotely large.
3} I'd personally love a 2 crt pear solitaire pendant![]()
