Diamond studs - sizing help

1) Size difference isn't an issue.

2) Why VVS?

3) What are the angles on these stones? Who graded them to be "triple ex"? If you're gonna pay this much freaking money for the brand--make sure they're actually cut properly. Just because they're Cartier does not guarantee they're the best they can be.

Those are awesome questions that I have no answer to :shame:

I am an idiot.

By no means are you an idiot. But they are questions you need to really think about answers to because this is a TON of money and there's no need to spend that kinda cash on something not well cut and that high on the clarity range just because it's Cartier.

You are a sweetheart! Thank you! I'll get on my research horse.

What do you think about the size Ame? I could wear bigger than .82?

The size to me is perfect. I wear .33ctw myself, actually. I like small studs, to me studs are supposed to be small, they're supposed to be dainty. I think you're at the top end of my threshold there.

Ask them for the reports on each stone, and compare them to my "cheat sheet." Reject them if they aren't well cut stones.

Thank you :smile1:

My SA said as soon it hits 1 carat each the price goes outta roof. You think there would be an obvious difference between .82 and .91?

I really don't think anyone will be able to tell the difference. Also, what others have said about the specs is true. Since the studs will be on your ears, they don't have to be perfect (unless you want them to be of course).

I agree about the price increasing a lot once you get to 1ct each.....I got mine at the diamond district in NY so I was very lucky to find an unbelievable deal, but mine are not colorless or vvs (I forget the specs but here is a pic).

Also, remember that if you go with Cartier you are also paying for the name on top of the diamond. If you are set on a luxury brand, that's fine of course, but you may be able to get better bang for your buck at a regular jeweler....just my two cents [emoji6]

WOW! Yours look stunning. Thank you so much for taking the time to post it.

I don't know much about diamonds so I always end up at Tiffany's or Cartier -- thinking they definitely know what they are doing.

This forum is so helpful. The people here are like Bling Gods! lol

Lolol....u r hilarious! And thanks dear. :). Hey...nothing wrong with Tiffanys or Cartier [emoji6]. We do have some diamond gurus here. For a quick price and size comparison have you tried researching on a website like bluenile? They will give you all the specs about each stone (color, clarity, angles...you name it) and that way you can also compare that against what your SA can find for you.
Best of luck, Rami....can't wait to see what you decide :)

I just texted my SA and asked for the GIA report and she said "GIA will be ordered once it's purchased" .. I am not sure what that means but she is sending me something in an hour or so.

Thank you xx

I would never go for this.
This is a situation where personally I would not buy from Cartier.
My e ring and wedding band are Cartier but studs are simple.
You can find great diamonds from a reputable jeweler and not have to pay for the name.

That size looks great. I agree with everything Ame said.
No one but you will know they're Cartier, so why bother paying such a severe premium?
I know people love designer stones so if thats what makes you happy, by all means!!
In your ears you can slide down a bit in color and a bit in clarity, but never ever sacrifice cut. Evah!!

Mine are 1ct per ear and are excellent cut, VS1 and H color I think.

Hello everyone!

I don't own any diamond studs yet. This is my first pair and I believe in buying it right the first time even if it results in waiting longer.

I tried on .72 triple Ex, VVS1 F last week and thought I could do bigger.

My SA called me today to try these on. VVS1 G triple ex .82 each. What do you guys think? I need your help. Do you think it's a good size? Cartier diamond prices are going up 10% up on August 1st. What's new!

All the jewelry/ bling gurus on this forum... Please help. What is your favourite size?

Thank you :smile1:

Those look beautiful on you & a great size for your ear & lobe. My vote is for the larger size. They're perfect for you. Better get them before the price increase. I understand about buying right the first time. I always say buy once, cry once! Congrats on such a great choice for studs.

Thank you xx

That means you don't find out what you bought til you buy it. Not my idea of smart diamond shopping.

Just read this! I agree with Ame. I'm surprised they don't already have the cert with the prices Cartier charges . Unless you're set on Cartier, you can find diamond studs of just as good a quality for less money. None of my diamond studs are designer because I don't want to pay the extra cost for the name. My largest pair are 2 ct total weight, VS2, G or H in color with excellent cut. They were an anniversary gift from the hubby. You can go a little lower in clarity/color & no one will notice as long as the cut is excellent. HTH

Tiffany does the same, where you don't get a report til you buy the item and then a few weeks later it shows up. That, to me, is not acceptable.

I would personally not buy studs from the brand, unless you MUST have the brand for mind-cleanliness. I can gladly assist you in finding studs from another vendor that will blow your mind.

I know when it comes to engagement rings, the brand matters to a lot of people, and I get that. Which is why I am so hellbent on working through the inventory when we are on that mission. But for studs? Meh. No one is going to be up against your head saying "are those Cartier?! I can totally tell they're from the red box." nor are they going to know if it's a VVS stone.
