Tiffany does the same, where you don't get a report til you buy the item and then a few weeks later it shows up. That, to me, is not acceptable.

I would personally not buy studs from the brand, unless you MUST have the brand for mind-cleanliness. I can gladly assist you in finding studs from another vendor that will blow your mind.

I know when it comes to engagement rings, the brand matters to a lot of people, and I get that. Which is why I am so hellbent on working through the inventory when we are on that mission. But for studs? Meh. No one is going to be up against your head saying "are those Cartier?! I can totally tell they're from the red box." nor are they going to know if it's a VVS stone.

+1 I totally agree with you on this. Studs are studs & only the wearer will know where they came from. What people notice is the sparkle in your ear, not the store where it came from. My brother gave his wife a pair of earrings for their last anniversary. He worked with a jeweler he often used to pick out 2 1 ct matching stones & had them set for her. Their not designer but they also didn't come with the designer price tag. I think he chose H color, VS2, excellent brilliant cut. Those stones will stand up to just about any designer diamond studs.

I would never go for this.
This is a situation where personally I would not buy from Cartier.
My e ring and wedding band are Cartier but studs are simple.
You can find great diamonds from a reputable jeweler and not have to pay for the name.

That size looks great. I agree with everything Ame said.
No one but you will know they're Cartier, so why bother paying such a severe premium?
I know people love designer stones so if thats what makes you happy, by all means!!
In your ears you can slide down a bit in color and a bit in clarity, but never ever sacrifice cut. Evah!!

Mine are 1ct per ear and are excellent cut, VS1 and H color I think.

Pretty! [emoji7]

Just read this! I agree with Ame. I'm surprised they don't already have the cert with the prices Cartier charges . Unless you're set on Cartier, you can find diamond studs of just as good a quality for less money. None of my diamond studs are designer because I don't want to pay the extra cost for the name. My largest pair are 2 ct total weight, VS2, G or H in color with excellent cut. They were an anniversary gift from the hubby. You can go a little lower in clarity/color & no one will notice as long as the cut is excellent. HTH

I might be a less is more kinda guy but I find smaller diamonds to be prettier. The 0.72 cts look great on your ear.

I appreciate the feedback. Thank you for your time everyone. I have discovered bluenile.ca :smile1: I'd be bothering you guys with this or that question in future.

I am so happy that I started this thread. You guys are the best. I mean it :smile1:

Happy a wonderful weekend!

Aww thank you for offering help. I am totally going to take you up on that one day xx

In my town, people I work with donteven know cartier...Ive been using my trinity ring for 8 mos and only 1 manage to notice it. Ive had more attention with my David yurman paved sapphire ring although its not the name that attracts them but the style or beauty of the ring.they dont even know david yurman either. I just check the purseforum often so I know the brand. When your earrings or ring is beautiful thats all that matters. No ones gonna ask you if thats cartier or tiffany...maybe if you are around people who are really brand conscious at least for jewelry.

Even my mappins diamond ring (canadian jewelry brand) gets more attention...itsthe ring itself that gets the attention but not the maker...its funny when people compliment my clothes I tell them the brand right away, whether I bought it from walmart or second hand stores. But when they compliment one of my jewelry I just say thanks and no one bothers to ask me where I bought it. My DY ring catches the most attention wherever I go.they say its pretty but no one ask for the brand. One actually ask if its real gold. Lol

I don't know much about diamonds so I always end up at Tiffany's or Cartier -- thinking they definitely know what they are doing.

This forum is so helpful. The people here are like Bling Gods! lol

Are you located in the US Rami? Why not take the money you were planning to spend at Cartier and spend it on a pair of well cut/ideal cut diamonds from a trusted vendor instead? :D

From the picture you posted, I think you can go a little bigger. You will get diamond shrinkage syndrome in time. Get the biggest, best cut diamonds you can find for your budget.

I THINK she's in Canada. Which she can still use the same vendors though she'd have to consider import. Otherwise we can do Blue Nile up there and avoid that.

I don't ever go with the biggest and best for studs. Get with the size you're comfortable with that are in budget. Don't get big for the sake of big. Studs, to me, are to be dainty.

I agree with posts that for diamond studs, cut is more important than color or clarity. You want the earrings to sparkle and excellent cut will give you that.

I personally would not buy diamond studs from Cartier or Tiffany, not worth paying premium for the sake of the brand name.

I have 1 carat for each ear and love the size. Not too big and not too small.

Good luck. You have great resources here.

Agreed! I know there is a trend that bigger is better (watches, diamond studs) but to stand the test of time, as they say, the size you have it great. If you want to go up to 1 carat, that would be okay, but not much bigger than that to have them suitable for decades to come.

And Ame is great. Wish she was my next door neighbor or something!

Just my 2 cents.
Skip Cartier/Tiffany...no stats up front, no sale. This goes for any retailer.
2 tcw (slightly smaller .87-.97 each stone to save a bit of money and look the same), G/H (will face up white), VS2/SI1 (for earrings) is good enough. As long as the cut is ex/ideal those babies will sparkle! AME can help you with the diamond stats.
Also consider a 3 prong martini setting.....................
"Diamond shrinkage" always sets in for most people...trust me on this. When in doubt error on the larger size.
Keep us posted...how exciting!
