Designer Brands You Will Never Buy

Not that I can afford high end designers at the moment, but in a dream world with money trees I wouldn't buy Gucci and LV pieces with their monograms. They don't look appealing to me. Like some previous posts, I agree it's not about the brand itself but about the aesthetic of the bags. I like Chanel in general, for example, but I definitely wouldn't buy all their styles ;)

You. Me. Pistol, at ten yards.Noon behind the nearest Starbucks. Bring your own witnesses :p

BUT I'm redeemable! There is that 1% I like, such as Hermès Indian Dust S/S 2008! Hang on and let me adopt a Seth McFarlane A Million Ways to Die in the West laissez-faire attitude to make my cowardice seem more hip. One day we'll all laugh about this!!

*melts at sight... AHEM! that is to mean, is duly mollified and appeased* :graucho:

Come on, the vintage style Etro paisleys (in wool, not that plasticky horrid canvas material) can be delightfully soothing, eh?

It never ceases to amaze me how very much we purse hardcore fans are prone to quick knee-jerk reactions at a negative opinion... and a minute later, be blissed out by the sight of a beautiful motif we didn´t know yet! (oh, that shawl... if it has wool in it I´m doomed. What have you done?!)

:graucho: they did these in silks-- I'm not sure if there is a wool shawl or not, it being for spring/summer. I can't remember. That was fourscore and many martinis ago. But the colourways are sublime.

I thought I'd never buy lv or Gucci but just got my first lv yesterday, and I can't even keep track of how many Gucci I have now..... As you age, your taste in fashion changes and so does the brand itself. I guess now I won't never say never to any brand. Lol

That's so true! When I was 15 I used to wear black Dr. Martens all the time, paired with bracelets with pointy studs and baggy clothes... now one of my fave brands of clothing is Max Mara, I wish I could buy at least half of their stuff every season :D
I don't like the LV monogram, but I bought a Petit Noe for my mom and I have to say it looks good on her. It simply isn't my style at the moment, but who knows what the future holds!

I've never been a fan of MK, the LV stuff with too many colors or to much "print", and I'm not a fan of the MCM bags. I think all of this speaks to the fact I am boring and don't like too much color/flash/decoration.

I have also only found one pair of Monolos that fit my fat feet... So as much as I love them I won't be purchasing any of those either in the near future :-(

Immigratty, I agree with the spirit of a lot of your posts. [emoji106]

Criminy! I can't believe the back and forth because someone called a brand of bags "ghetto". As far back as I read, no one attacked any individual PERSON. People have hated brands of BAGS. Why all the angst over someone passionately not liking Michael Kors bags?!? I passionately hate Michael Kors design approach in general and own two of his bags in specific. Who cares? This isn't life issues. This is handbags.

If I were to call Hermes' BAGS overrated, elitist and snobby, are their devotees going to take umbrage? I'd hope not.

If I call Chanel BAGS grandmotherly, boring and dated will those buyers start hating me? I'd hope not.

If I call Kate Spade BAGS juvenile, overexposed and overpriced will those fans want me boiled in oil? I'd hope not.

This thread is about opinions on BAGS - not people. And every brand has negative associations (Louis Vuitton - trying to hard, Prada - boring and outdated, brand X - etc. brand Y - etc.) I own several of the bags I just "insulted" despite knowing what detractors will say. I don't care. Yippee for you and your opinion. I like what I like.

Can we just accept that all handbags are glorified pouches made of various stuff to hold our stuff? Owning or eschewing any bag says ZERO about you...or her...or him. If you think otherwise, get some therapy or at least some warm milk and cookies while you rethink life.

And can we stop taking offense if someone doesn't like our precious brand? And, can we stop drilling down on a word. Many posters are using English as their second, third or fourth language - let's give people room on communication in an online forum. Maybe we could even laugh at ourselves for our own over the top passions and perspective on handbags?

Lord knows, I've had to laugh at myself tons of times as I've been certain of one thing and a shiny new purse appears and I now think a completely different thing!

I would love it if we could stop the back and forth middle school sniping. Have a sense of humor. Embrace other opinions. If you hate a brand state it. And if your pet brand was in the hot seat... LET IT GO!!

Stumbled in here randomly and bumped into this post.

Sparkle person, this is fan-bleeping-tastic.

1. Different strokes for different folks.
2. Respect
3. Not nuclear disarmament
4. Not curing diseases
5. Not saving lives or creating world peace...
6. Handbags. Just handbags.

I wouldn't buy LV. Too much of it where I live and I like less label-y stuff. I do think some of their men's designs are very elegant though.

MK, until this brand stop blatantly copied other design. Other designer copied each other too, but at least most of them added some of their own little touch to make it slightly different.

Anything in monogram except LV!
