Just Not Interested:
  • Louis Vuitton - The style of most of their stuff doesn't suit my taste, and I feel that you can spend the same money and get better quality from other designers. Their "status symbol" reputation, leading to me seeing multiple monogrammed bags on a daily basis (I live in a ritzier area), leaves a sour taste in my mouth. It feels more like a billboard than a hand bag, if that makes sense.
  • Marc Jacobs - Quality control and over-saturation.
  • Burberry Bags - I have the same issue with them as I have with LV. Though I own and love two coats, I find their accessories to be cash cows. The quality just doesn't seem very good for what you pay, and I don't like bags the average non-fashion person can name the designer of from a mile away.
  • Burberry Brit - I am not paying $900 for a coat made in China that isn't 100% Wool or a pure Wool-Cashmere blend.
  • Kate Spade - I feel like she's really popular, but I don't get the appeal. Quality is another issue.
  • Jimmy Choo - I have yet to see anything made by them that makes me want to buy regardless of the price tag. Even on sale, it's not worth it to me.

Not currently interested, but open to change for the right item:
  • Hermes - The price and wait list makes them not worth it.
  • Tory Burch - Same as Jimmy Choo. When I see people excited about buying TB stuff online, it's almost always heavily logo'd/monogrammed rather than well designed. On top of that, their conservative (but still high priced) stuff isn't all that.
  • Chloe - I like their stuff but the resale value is awful, the price is high, and the pieces don't seem much higher in quality stuff in a lower price tier. If something I love does show up I'd consider it, but right now I just avoid them.

My issue with a lot of designers starts with the fact that I'm paying for quality. I think we're all paying for a little bit of status, too. When it feels like a designer cares more about advertising than about design which flatters the wearer and is of high quality (heavily monogrammed bags, a giant logo on the front of a $500 sweater, etc), I don't really want to give them my money. I should be paying for something that looks beautiful and maybe also shows that I can afford quality, not something that turns me into a walking billboard. On top of that, I don't like designers that make things in sweatshops and then turn around and sell it for a higher price than what they used to sell their flagship, made-by-one-person pieces for.

I don't want anyone to misunderstand here or get upset because I'm not against monogramming or having a logo entirely; I just don't like when it's something someone guess the designer of from all the way down the grocery aisle or across the street. If this makes sense: I want the status of an item clearly being high quality and flattering, not the status of buying a certain brand.

I agree, luxury brands spend too much money on advertisements!
it makes me unhappy when the quality goes down but the price increases so often...

Just wanted to add another bag I want to swing a bat is a Porsche handbag!
Seriously, I've seen these piece of crap imports in Vegas going for thousands.
The leather was stiff, the interior looked like a dungeon, and it was the most impractical bag ever. Imagine yourself paying at the register, opening the bag and the things coming out for the public to see.

I say Porsche stick to cars!
