as for the question of discount: a discount does not remove the stripes, I am really unhappy with the front of the bag, in real life it is even worse and I don't want to carry a bag like this
I have not ordered any vintage stye bag , i tried to put carefully some apple condi on the lines , cause I thought maybe the leather is just a bit dry there, but it was not
it looks like the leather is bleached there, I checked many many many pics in the www about matte BE BAGs , any color, I have not found something like mine (she ist NEW), and that tells me that this is just NOT normal,

even sb tells me that 10 times

i can post immediately 50 perfect matte leather BE bags in a row............hardly i find one with stripes

so I think my pictures are good samples for the matte leather thread , so people know exactly what "natural markings" are supposed to be

susa: I'm not even attempting to diminish the fact, that you're unhappy with the bag by stating I myself could have bought a bag like this on a sale, so please don't misunderstand me ;)

Had it been on sale, I would have seen the bag , and known what I was getting...whereas you didn't..this is a huge difference.

I have around 15 matte leather bags, and though some bags does have a couple of these stripes ,it is very slight, and blends in beautifully with the rest, so I have certainly no problems at all.

no no, bonniekir, I do completely understand what you mean, it might be possible that if I would have seen this bag in sale (lk the last one, where i.e a LM dark matte grey had been reduced to GBP 189,--. due to minor leather irregularities--------a friend bought this one and the bag is perfect, no significant marks) 50-60% reduced, I also might have jumped on this one, you know what you get and you can say "ok, for this price I can live with the marks"

I totally agree with you !

But not with BEC:nogood:

by the way: I showed the bag to some friends, they knew that I waited long for a BEC, and they were curious, I showed them the bag WITHOUT any comment from my side to see what they think and say

ALL of them, even my husband asked immediately about the stripes  it was quite frustrating

Hm... Yes, those are good points too. I have to say if I went to a sample sale and saw a 60 - 70% sale then I too might even be tempted or at least take a much closer inspection. But, this is totally different from that type of purchase. This transaction should be dealt with the exact same protocol and sensitivity as a retail.

Susa, When you purchase a limited supply leather sale did Jackie say that the atelier uses inferior/defect pieces of leather? I"m assuming she didn't mention anything about this policy before your purchased otherwise you wouldn't be in this situation.

I think this is an an important policy that everyone should be aware going forward. Personally, I had no idea this policy was in effect. I just assumed the leather would be the same as a regular handbag.

I"m disappointed there wasn't mention of this policy on the website or in some type of communication to you ahead of time. This all could've been easily avoided.

I hope you receive good news soon!

I bought from the limited leather sale and my bag was perfect. there was nothing on the web page to indicate that any of the leathers were inferior. My matte tan bag has the same Indiana Jones effect as your travel set Lovebags, but nothing as marked as Susas and I have been using my tan bag nearly 2 years.

Did someone mention my Indiana Jones Travel set that I absolutely love?

I"m sorry Susa I don't want to make a joke on this thread.

But, the point pinkdiamond just mentioned answered my question about whether there was anything at all on the website indicating this sort of policy. To me that's KEY in all of this.

It's just wrong, wrong IMO to not state that this "could" occur on your website and then not offer a refund or exchange immediately once you realize your mistake about not posting or informing your customer ahead of time.

Pinkdiamond, I'm glad your enjoying your set like I do! And I know this sounds odd but I view my travel set completely different then my handbag. I have totally different expectations. In a travel set I actually enjoy markings, scuffs etc... It makes me look like a seasoned traveller. LOL

But in a handbag I"m totally different. I have higher standards. Does that make sense?

No, certainly not, lovebags, the ltd. leather sale was done due a little leather stock which was not enough to use for stock orders, it did not mean that the leather was second choice or is defective in any way

my leather also is not defective, but has these white lines like a zebra on the most prominent side of the bag
this is just not looking good , and that kind of leather should be taken for handles, messenger straps , decoration or at least the backside

what is a indiana jones travel set ???

Hi Susa,

Indiana Jones is in reference to a popular movie with Harrison Ford. This actor has a very rustic/sexy appeal that we find ourselves comparing our weekender travel set's to him.

I know - ladies. We're a little odd comparing our BE's to a sexy movie star! LOL

you know, I was thinking -- this bag is new and unused. It, according to Jackie, has "normal' variations in the leather.
So, why won't she take it back? If it's so "normal", she could resell it, right?

Great question! And if Jackie feels this bag is normal as she's already stated....

And we know that Jackie is always saying how she want's more stock on her website so that customer's don't have to pay the extra charges thru BEC so there you have it!!!

Great solution Finzup! I just still think the next customer needs to see good pictures of this bag before buying.
