Current Good Quality Fair Price but Little Known Recommendation Thread

Based on my experience with Polène, I've just ordered from another small French company, Léo & Violette. Their bags are made in Italy. The actual cost breakdown of each bag is shown on their site, and they're transparent about their profit. Like Polene, they choose to sell online or through a single storefront in Paris to keep costs down.

The bag I ordered is Le Violette (https://www.leoetviolette.com/products/le-violette-graine)

The Gianni is really elegant.

Hello, first time poster! Does anyone here have any further reviews of Les Ateliers Auguste? I see them recommended in this thread and other minimalist/chic brand threads, but am curious to know a bit more! In particular, I'd be very grateful if anyone had purchased the Grand Madame!
I have their Monceau and it's a great bag! I've been dreaming of a larger tote forever but never quite pulled the trigger. They are very minimalist but quality of leather is great and designs are very timeless!

As promised to @Fancyfree, mentioning Silent Goods here. Years ago, I backed their KS campaign after seeing their mission regarding being committed to transparency and sustainability of handbag production. My backing was a briefcase for a husband which despite years of abuse held up really well because leather is very durable. I finally took a plunge and got a soft bag in tan for myself and I love it. It is a rather expensive indie brand but the quality is impeccable and a design is both classy and practical. In photos it compares to MM Juliet midi in Tuscania leather. For MM fans, it's about the same height as Juliet midi, but much wider, however, if you wear it with unclasped side buckles it expands into a tote when worn as a shoulder/crossbody, thus becoming taller and flattening. You can also keep sides buckled and it keeps more of a satchel shape. I am a sucker for this design similar to BV convertible as it is very versatile and can be worn multiple ways. It fits a decent amount of stuff too - in the photo I have a paperback, an iPad mini, sunnies, sanitizer wipes, and a wallet, and as you can see there is a ton more room!

I've been looking at that brand! They look beautiful. Why don't you get one so we can find out? lol

This is the one I've been eyeing https://www.mlouye.com/products/ser...20046&pr_ref_pid=6566414024750&pr_seq=uniform

I've been looking at this brand, too. I have a couple of their designs bookmarked

I saw Tanner Leatherstein cut one up. I also saw a video review about it, though I think the Youtuber might have been gifted it. I asked her if the bag stood up on its own and she said no. (I think I'm getting bags confused. too many bags!) Also, though I think the geometric construction is super cool, it's more theory than actuality, I think, because even if you pull it out, it moves in and out just as you touch it and move it around, so it might often look flat or in some shape you weren't expecting. But I bookmarked it to consider for later!

I wonder if they move a bit like Issey Miyake bao bao bags.

I don't own them but I visited a pop-up of theirs a couple of years ago. At the time, I hadn't even heard of the brand. I remember the bags being much more structured than I expected (from the look of them on display, I expected some give). I saw the Helix and the Stormi- both felt like trunks in their construction. If you like bags that are structured and will stand on their own, these would be perfect. I don't recall any other styles on display that day, unfortunately, but there are a few on the website that look lovely.
I am trying to remember what the leather felt like but I can't, sorry.
I'm very fond of odd-shaped bags and that pop up had a special discount, yet I didn't walk away with one, so something wasn't quite good enough about them. :hrmm:

I remembered that a friend of mine has one and shot her an email asking if she'd recommend that I buy one. She responded really quickly:

"I got the Naomi Bag directly via Instagram. It came wondrfully wrapped but the bag was not immediately worth this price point. The leather felt like faux and the interior partition was a plastic clear sheet that got fingerprints on it when I reached into the bag to get my things. I sold it at a small loss after only using it two times.
They later gifted me their Atlas Bag to feature on my Instagram via my management. It's a really unique style and I have kept it. It is boxy and the top panel is smaller than the width of the bag, which feels like a design mistake. The interior has no pockets. The colors are also really dull compared to online pics so I had to use filters when posting on my Insta to match the website colors.
The unique panels on the front and back make it so individual and interesting looking that I keep it just for that "pop" when I want to stand out. For this the bag is perfect. Nobody else is carrying it.
The language in their kit and in my management brief suggests this is premium grade leather. I don't know enough to say but my other bags at this price point are from Aspinal and that leather seems far superior.
You should get it for interesting design because I know you like special designs but don't expect it to feel like butter leather. It is good not amazing.
"

Hope that helps a bit. Sorry it's not an entirely glowing review. :hrmm:

Wow, thanks for asking for your friends feedback! Guess I pass, it's not like I "need" a new bag
