Comparing leather by Year and Season (best, worst, characteristics)

i have had 2 2004 bags, 2 2005's and some 06's. I have been most pleased with the texture and consistency of the 04's. can't judge on the 07's cuz i don't have one, felt one at the dept store, but not too thrilled.

Don't know for sure - but in the middle of 2005 they increased production quantities and changed the dye process - and they had some quality control issues around that - anybody else remember the problems with magenta and rouge theatre and the white underside of the leather showing around the edges of the city? circoit? somebody? Anyway, so maybe it was then.

this is tough.......I've never owned anything prior to 05 so I can't comment on those. I love 05 for color and leather........I haven't been disappointed yet with any of my bags from this year. '07 has had some really fantastic colors as well but from my experiences, the leather quality has been hit or miss. I think this tends to be true with all seasons in general......some bags are just better than others depending on what your personal taste is.

there were some great colors in 05 and the leather was tdf...

Ahhh I LOOOOVE that the one bbag I have is a s/s 05 muaaa-ha-ha-haaaa. It makes it that more special to me .

I've only handled the 05 (bubblegum was 05, right?), 06, and 07 bags - and 05, to me, is the best - but it's particular to taste. I think the 07 bags are nicer than the 06 bags - with the leather being thick, IMO, thicker than the 05 leather - but with more wrinkles. The 06 leather was very crackly and I had heard of peeling issues. I had cornflower and antique rose cities for a short while before returning/selling them because I just wasn't into the 06 leather - too stiff for me and crackly. The 07 leather is divine - but not as smooth as the 05 leather is/was. So I voted for the 05 leather.

I had this problem on my black city around the edges - where one leather panel meats another. I used a sharpie to correct it. ush: Harsh, but it worked.

I voted for 05, even though I have only owned 05-07.

For colors I really loved the depth and richness and the leather is just sooo smooshy and wondermous.

I have mixed feelings about the 07 leather: the Tomato first I had briefly was TDF!!!! but the two Ivories I had were very papery and disappointing.

I've had 3 05 bags and the leather IS amazing...I have 2 bordeauxs and I had a s/s 05 black city which I sold as the city wasn't for me...I just got today a 07 f/w Sienna day which has the BEST leather and color saturation of ALL the bags I've had, including the 05 black city. It has very smooth, thick, smooshy leather. VERY close to the 05 s/s leather, just my opinion.

I have a gorgeous dark chocolate twiggy from '05, but for me, nothing compares to-the legendary Anis, Rose, Eggplant, Khaki, Pistachio, and the Orange and Yellow of 2004. Spectacular colors, great leather- scrumptious, all of them!

Probably leaving this blank, and just seeing my name should be enough to realize this is another vote for 05. The seasons that I have actually owned and have firsthand knowledge of to help me vote is...04, 05, 06, and 07. The colors and leather of 05 surpass all of the above listed seasons in my opinion, and I am hoping S/S 08 gives 05 some competition so I can be the original owner of some lovely bags! Here are pictures of the bags that helped me decide. These are only my personal opinions, and I do not mean to offend anyone who loves the bags and seasons, that I did not!

This was certainly a great 06 Lilac. It had no veins, and no grayish undertones. Unfortunately, the leather was a little to thin and stiff, and the color just wasn't vibrant enough for my crazy vibrant tastes.

07 French Blue was my favorite color of the season. The leather was a huge improvement from 06 and it had vibrant colors like French Blue and Vert Gazon. These two were returned because the styles did not suite me, and had nothing to do with the leather or color. I am still dreaming of a French Blue First.

Yummy leather of the 04 Eggplant. I only sold it because the color was too dark for me. There is no denying that the 04 leather is very close to 05!

My 3 all time favorites for leather and color, all from 05 of course Magenta, BG Pink, and Turquoise.....

More pretty leather...05 Indigo, 05 BG Pink, 04 Eggplant, and 05 Magenta...

It is very interesting...2004 2005 & 2007 are all right up there with each other!! I'm wondering if all this love for 2007 will turn into high demand for '07 on the resale market! Will be interesting to see in a couple years if people are still saying '07 is great!
I personally can't wait to get my hands on an '07!!

I love 2004 the best. All the colours are fab and out of all my bags they are my favourite. They seem to be more vintagey looking and I prefer the matte leather of this year. That said, I love the bright colours of 2005 as well.
