I agree the SS 07 is nothing special, except in that it followed some occasionally pretty bad leather offerings in 06 and allowed us to sigh in relief that at least they weren't crinkly, crispy and thin. But the FW 07 leather is in a different league.:girlsigh:

Oh, was Vert Gazon SS '07? Time flies when you're having fun... ;) Now I'm intrigued - I really need to get my hands on something from FW '07...

I adore all the colours from 06, the leather is slightly thinner but it is as soft as anything and i LOVE veins!! But I also love the 04 lilac and pale rose, so it would be between those for me!

Up until about 3 weeks ago, I would have said 05 hands down. After acquiring my Plomb City, I've somewhat changed my mind. My Plomb is insanely thick, smooshy, and wrinkly. I have never owned a Bbag like this, and I've had 05 teal, taupe, and black. That being said, I've also had an 07 Sienna and Black that I've had to bring back to the store because the leather just does NOT compare to my Plomb! I think the leather this season is kinda hit and miss. So...my vote is STILL for 05.

I voted for 2005...most of my bags are from that year. I love the textured feel of the S/S 2005 bags..it's rough leather, not smooth like my 2003 bag. I also love my 2004 pewter...but it's lambskin, so I can't really compare.

It's difficult to compare across seasons, because it's really apples and oranges. I think it's safe to say that 2006 sucked, leather-wise - but apart from that, the early bags and the later bags are just different. Someone who worked until recently in the luxury leather industry told me that the first few seasons of Bal's bags - before they really took off - were made from young goatskin. But when Bal wanted to increase production, they had to switch to older goatskin, because there simply isn't enough of the younger leather available for the quantities they now produce. When they changed leather, they had to use new techniques to dye and finish it, because the older skin is naturally more flawed than the young goat. So the newer bags are more "processed" and "finished" and the colour is more uniform, and they don't have the organic quality of the older ones. Given that, it's really a matter of personal preference - to me, the original leather is what defined the aesthetic of the motorcycle bags. I have to admit that some of the photos I've seen of fall 07 bags look really beautiful - but the few I've seen in person have been a bit meh, so I'm withholding judgment for a bit.
Young goats, thats soooo sad. I have a hard time buying Balenciagas when I think about the goats, but young baby goats, thats aweful. I much prefer the 07 leather and hope that no young goats were used for it.

i voted for 2005 because my 'holy grail' balenciaga is a turquoise first... but overall the colors and leather were to die for! which is probably why so many of the colors from 05 are being "remade" or revised for this year

my vote is for '05 too. the color selection did not dissapoint and the leather was phenomenal.

...but like the other posters said, '07 is giving '05 a run for it's money in the leather department.:balloon:
