This is my very first post.
I have been in love with this forum and I think this thread in particular is a fantastic idea! And please please count me in.
Now, I have a dilemma and would like to know your opinions.
For my b-day plus thirtie-sh wedding anniversary I would like to have my FIRST designer bag.
Basically, I could go for one of the three options:
A buy first class in a shop (this would probably take some time and I´m not a very patient person)
B buy a pre-owned first class
C buy a Furla, RM,Marc Jacobs - still gorgeous bags, but priced more reasonably IMO

So, what do you think? All responses will be much appreciated.
Since it's a birthday/anniversary gift, I'd go with option A!
Go through the premium bag forums and get an idea what type of bag/designer you'd like. A lot of members post modeling pics, too...you'll get an idea what the bag will look like worn.
As Nascar posted the sales are coming so you may get a deal plus, if you order online, look for free S/H. Check the Steals/Deals forum for the sales.
Keep us posted...we are always availible for a little enabling! :graucho:

oh, leopard stole. LOL! Funny I didn't put 2 and 2 together.

I Love those! I like the brown one the best.

I saw the prettiest scarf at the Valentino boutique Saturday. Chiffon, light pink border with a pale leopard print center. It was GORGEOUS!!!!!!!

Oh that Valentino sounds delish ..love the combo leo brown and pink.

I have a couple of the stoles...love them!
They look great on you!!!

Thanks sq (skyqueen) which color do you have? :smile1:

I prefer buying new bags myself. I would go with what ever bag makes you smile the most. Don't buy something just because it costs more. Go with your gut and get what you love and will really wear.
Thank you very much dcooney! Of course, I´m going to " buy a baby that makes me smile the most" as you said so nicely. And take my time to choose thoroughly, it´s still 2 - 3 months away.

First of all ... WELCOME!!!!!!!

Option A or B, I think.

I know option C is fine, but since you even have A or B in your thoughts, I think you would not feel fulfilled if you did option C. (I assume you mean Marc by Marc Jacobs in option C and not the premium MJ line.)

If you go with B, just be extremely sure what you are getting and be sure of the return policy.

Premium designer sales are about to happen. Actually, Nordstroms has their presale going. Neimans will have some good top designer bags on sale soon. The problem with this is these bags have been sitting around for months, have been handled, sometimes have shelf wear. So if you order something on presale or sale, make sure the SA verifies it is not damaged (fingernail scratches, shelf wear, etc). Just ask them.

Personally, I stick with option A. If timing isn't good financially but I just "have" to have something, I just charge it and pay it off as fast as I can. (even sell something to help out with it)
Thank you so much for giving me a warm welcome. And most informative post.I think you can read my mind :smile1:, my heart is beating for a Lady Dior,an Hermes Kelly, a LV Alma or a Chanel quilted flap, and if I decide for any of these beauties, I would definitely go to a shop in person. For me, it will be part of the whole experience. However, I LOVE online sales and use them for my perfumes/clothing/other comodities, this time I need to keep my hands on it from the very beginning. As I said, it may take some time, but I´ll definitely come back with a report.

Thanks a million, skyqueen. I´m going to study the premium bag forums, sure. I can´t figure out what S/H means, I thought silver hardware, but probably not.:D
Could you explain it to a beginner?

Shipping and handling...every bit of savings count!

Love all the bags you mentioned...but I love the Alma with the heavier shoulder strap (the one with the clip ends).
So classic!
