I finally landed my HG Hermès scarf: Turandot, in the persimmon and blue colorway. All the credit goes to meg, who spotted it on Evil Bay and gave me a holler.:D

Now I'm done with H scarves. For a while, anyway.:graucho:

I was trying to decide what bag to wear with it, since I don't own any orange bags, and I'm thinking that my MJ Large Single in Bluette would be perfect. Hey, mk... it's got silver hardware!;)
Perfect color blue and what about your Bal yellow? Especially for spring/summer.

WOW, everyone's bags and outfits are looking great! I love to see how young and stylish you all look.

In other news, I went to the post office to pick up these pearls I ordered, and the clerk (not a young guy, either) called me a "sweet old lady"!! I am horrified.!!

Anyway, I've become interested in pearls. These are suppose to be Japanese Akoya in a slight blue grey color. They are rough and I know real pearls are supposed to be. Anyway, what do you think? Not the best photo, sorry.

For MK ---- I am attaching 3 pics of my favorite pearls to show you some ways I wear mine.View attachment 2886600View attachment 2886601View attachment 2886602

The first picture shows 2 strands of ivory pearls. They are 8 and 7 mm(?). The ones in the holder pulled through are Mikimoto and came to me from my mother along with the beautiful double strand bracelet. The other strand is Akoya and purchased by me. The onyx and diamond pendant has a clip for my pearls and looks nice on the pearls. The other picture shows my Tahitian pearl pendants accented with diamonds, one white and the other grey. Various studs along with a bit more formal baroque with diamond and white gold accents. My favorites are the Tahitian white studs that are plain. The grey has a .33 diamond as accent which my daughter dubbed as strange. I don't agree. Anyway, these are the ones I wear the most. In addition, my daughter has her own pearls along with some of her grandmothers and some of mine which she wears quite often. My daughter also has my oldest bracelet which no longer fits my wrists due to the rheumatoid arthritis. We have always worn pearls in the south so most of us have quite a supply of really nice pearls from generations. The prettiest pearls I have seen in a while are the ones that skyqueen wears in some of her pictures. They are outstanding.
I meant to tell you girls...the opera length (doubled or long) is very much in style and all the rage lately. I've seen so many long pearl strands recently and they can really make an outfit!
I like how you wear them as a double strand, MK! Chic!

A single note for nearly $800? Wow! The most I've ever gotten in one note is $400, and that was after a major shopping trip with triple points! I'm guessing you bought shoes & bags, and you made it a triple-point day?:graucho:

I just looked at the note and it is for 740.00. I got it a few weeks ago. I used my 10 point day on BF and spent quite a bit on the card. I purchased 3 handbags that day one for my MIL and 2 for me :D. I finally have the credit back on my NM card, but I am hesitant to try and get that yellow Givenchy small Pandora. I think I will wait until after going to SCP in a couple of weeks to see what they have.

Love it Elaine! Looks awesome.

Izzy! What an amazing collection! I love the look of the onyx and diamond pendant clipped on to a strand of pearls... I'm sure it looks absolutely stunning. The grey earrings with the diamond accent are quite lovely; I suspect that your daughter will think so too, once she is a bit older.;)

I hadn't realized that wearing pearls was a Southern tradition! Though now that I think of it, the times I traveled to Memphis or Atlanta on business, I often saw women wearing pearls out to dinner at nice restaurants. I also think of Southern women as being all-around "dressier" than those of us in the rest of the U.S.... do you think that's true? I know we've discussed on this thread how even at the opera many people wear very casual clothes (I always make it a point to dress up, but a lot of folks don't), but does the same hold true in your part of the country? I guess I associate the South with "gracious living" and therefore more formal outfits. But I don't know if I'm stereotyping; or maybe it was true in the past, but it isn't any more?

Well, Elaine, I wish I could tell you we dress differently than the rest of the US but we don't. I went to an play just recently and sat there with my mouth open from seeing how many of the people were dressed. The group I was asked to join were all dressed well but not formally. I saw shorts in cold weather, sandals, people who looked as if they hadn't had a hair cut in years and on and on. It was depressing. I heard an older woman say, Why do people no longer have pride in their appearance? It's a good question. One man sitting close to me had his shirt out with his hairy gut on display. Disgusting. Perhaps if it had been a 6 pack stomach it wouldn't have been!:amazed:

I love these. They are all gorgeous. I love the enhancer too, it adds a bit of a modern flair to them and makes the pearls more unique looking.
Izzy, these are beautiful! I did not realize that pearls were a southern tradition, but it makes sense, many classy ladies are southern. (Yourself included!)

Myself, being a fashion rebel always, have not worn pearls much as I thought them too lady-like. But, hey, now that I am a little old lady, it's a perfect time to "discover" these beauties!

Thanks for sharing your treasures :D
I haven't either but have always loved them. They are so classy and timeless looking.
Thank you MK! When I saw your pearls I couldn't help but think of a pendant hanging from the longer strand which is only one strand. Very smart really because you can do so much with them. If I am a little old lady with pearls I have been one since I was very young and my daughter started wearing pearls at the young age of 5. I wouldn't buy them for her but my mother did so Meredith treasures that strand. She is 27 now and still wears pearls at some point every week. She lives in DC and told me it is a constant seeing young women in pearls. So good on you for joining the pearl group!!
When I lived in the DC area I saw a lot of pearls. I found the dress standard there to be very conservative and classic looking.

I love the scarf! It is perfect and I love it with the MJ bag. It is a nice contrast while still being cohesive.
Super bags! Just can't get my things in that size. Am I the only one who has to carry prescription sunglasses as well as regular ones? They just won't fit.

I wear prescription sunglasses, but they stay in the car. They are big Gucci wrap around type glasses and are perfect for top down driving but not for carrying in a bag. Usually, I leave my regular glasses in the car too and if I need them then I just wear them and don't bring the case with me.

I agree with that woman's comment. It is depressing to see how we as a society have let ourselves go. I thought that when I was in my early 30's too so it isn't an age thing. Back then, I lived in SoFla and had season tickets to a few theatres. I was shocked to see even then that there were people who would show up to the theatre in sweats on a Saturday night.
