For MK ---- I am attaching 3 pics of my favorite pearls to show you some ways I wear mine.ImageUploadedByPurseForum1423248663.904707.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1423248693.120645.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1423248704.989872.jpg

The first picture shows 2 strands of ivory pearls. They are 8 and 7 mm(?). The ones in the holder pulled through are Mikimoto and came to me from my mother along with the beautiful double strand bracelet. The other strand is Akoya and purchased by me. The onyx and diamond pendant has a clip for my pearls and looks nice on the pearls. The other picture shows my Tahitian pearl pendants accented with diamonds, one white and the other grey. Various studs along with a bit more formal baroque with diamond and white gold accents. My favorites are the Tahitian white studs that are plain. The grey has a .33 diamond as accent which my daughter dubbed as strange. I don't agree. Anyway, these are the ones I wear the most. In addition, my daughter has her own pearls along with some of her grandmothers and some of mine which she wears quite often. My daughter also has my oldest bracelet which no longer fits my wrists due to the rheumatoid arthritis. We have always worn pearls in the south so most of us have quite a supply of really nice pearls from generations. The prettiest pearls I have seen in a while are the ones that skyqueen wears in some of her pictures. They are outstanding.

Izzy, these are beautiful! I did not realize that pearls were a southern tradition, but it makes sense, many classy ladies are southern. (Yourself included!)

Myself, being a fashion rebel always, have not worn pearls much as I thought them too lady-like. But, hey, now that I am a little old lady, it's a perfect time to "discover" these beauties!

Thanks for sharing your treasures :D

Thank you MK! When I saw your pearls I couldn't help but think of a pendant hanging from the longer strand which is only one strand. Very smart really because you can do so much with them. If I am a little old lady with pearls I have been one since I was very young and my daughter started wearing pearls at the young age of 5. I wouldn't buy them for her but my mother did so Meredith treasures that strand. She is 27 now and still wears pearls at some point every week. She lives in DC and told me it is a constant seeing young women in pearls. So good on you for joining the pearl group!!

Izzy! What an amazing collection! I love the look of the onyx and diamond pendant clipped on to a strand of pearls... I'm sure it looks absolutely stunning. The grey earrings with the diamond accent are quite lovely; I suspect that your daughter will think so too, once she is a bit older.;)

I hadn't realized that wearing pearls was a Southern tradition! Though now that I think of it, the times I traveled to Memphis or Atlanta on business, I often saw women wearing pearls out to dinner at nice restaurants. I also think of Southern women as being all-around "dressier" than those of us in the rest of the U.S.... do you think that's true? I know we've discussed on this thread how even at the opera many people wear very casual clothes (I always make it a point to dress up, but a lot of folks don't), but does the same hold true in your part of the country? I guess I associate the South with "gracious living" and therefore more formal outfits. But I don't know if I'm stereotyping; or maybe it was true in the past, but it isn't any more?

I finally landed my HG Hermès scarf: Turandot, in the persimmon and blue colorway. All the credit goes to meg, who spotted it on Evil Bay and gave me a holler.:D

Now I'm done with H scarves. For a while, anyway.:graucho:

I was trying to decide what bag to wear with it, since I don't own any orange bags, and I'm thinking that my MJ Large Single in Bluette would be perfect. Hey, mk... it's got silver hardware!;)
