Okay, okay, don't get me wrong. I love a classic white diamond too! But nothing makes me smile as much as a beautiful colored gem that's just a little less common. Of course, I coveted diamonds- how could I not? I got all the basics (except for a tennis bracelet... one day!), but in recent years, I've grown more and more fond of colored gems! White diamonds, for me, i see as almost a "supporting role." They sparkle like no other and I think they just make such a great accompaniment to colored stones and emphasize how gorgeous and deep their hues are!
My collection is still very small. I have a huge soft spot for moonstone (but dont regularly wear any pieces due to how soft it is), love tanzanite, all the rainbow shades of sapphire, and am obsessed with emeralds and their glow. My SO and I are in the very very beginning stages of thinking about an e-ring and I intend on going the fancy yellow diamond route.
I'd love to see everyone else's non-standard sparkles! Fancy diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, rubies, jades, pearl, amber, carnelian, moissanites- I love them all!
My own- a small emerald and diamond halo on a Cuban chain and a promise ring of sorts with a light teal sapphire and diamonds. There are also tiny pearls on my antique victorian-era starburst ring!
