I'm going into second yr uni and didn't get into high end handbags at all until very recently and I used bags from forever21 for school, but I got my first summer job this year so I saved that up to buy a LV speedy b! It's not impossible to save up but I know that most people would rather fund other things like night life, traveling and eating out :P My parents have gifted me Coach at the outlet but definitely nothing over $500~

The only designer bag I have is this tiny coach one, which was a Christmas gift something like 3-4 yrs ago. Looks similar to this one:

Except with slightly different brown accents and color scheme. I honestly don't know the name! I'm not knowledgeable about designer bags since I honestly carry a backpack most of the time (thank you, law school casebooks), but I'd like to get a nice leather one for myself after a few more paychecks (I work part time researching).

I'm a college student, graduating next year. I currently have:
• LV Speedy 30 Monogram
• LV Speedy 30 Damier Azur
• Michael Kors Bedford Luggage
• Gucci Joy Boston Black Trim
• Longchamp LM Metal LLH Rose Gold
• Celine Trapeze in 3 colors

I have a part time job. If I want to buy a bag, I pay all by myself, except my Celine Trapeze. My mom helped me out :D

I'm a foreign student studying in U.S. I am lucky enough that my parents pay tuitions and fees, and it relieves a lot of stress. I don't think it's fair to use my parents' money to finance my high-end purchases, so I have a part time job on a campus cafe and I work 20 hrs/week during the school year and 30+ hrs/week in summer. Now I have some cash to spare myself. So far I bought a few bags and one is for my mother!

Balenciaga WE GSH Black (pre-loved)
Balenciaga WORK Gris Tarmac
Mulberry Piccadilly Chocolate (pre-loved)
Mulberry Oversized Alexa Oak (for my lovely MOM!!!)

I've got the following in my collection, 2 Prada saffianos, one large and the other's a mini (I can't remember the model number), louis vuitton vertical batignolles, delightful gm, and a blue epi crossbody. I've also got a coach shoulder bag and a coach clutch, a miumiu messenger bag in bluette, chanel m/l caviar leather, chanel ultra stitch, fendi small hand bag/clutch, and a fendi shopper tote. I've also got 2 vintage bags, one's ferragamo, and the other's from aigner.

Sorry I don't really know the official names of most of my bags!

I'm a 3rd year med student. I started when I was 15, all thanks to my mom, another handbag/shoe addict. At 25, I have built a collection of about eh, 40-50 designer bags, all consisting of Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior (mainly, this was my first love), Balenciaga, YSL, Fendi, Prada and Mulberry. Shoe-wise, I also have about 40-50 pairs of CL, Ferragmos, Blahnik, and Choo.

My absolute favorite bags: Dior Diorissimo and Lady Dior
My absolute favorite shoes: Ferragamo varina and vara

Funding: While I was in HS, my parents gave me an allowance but on top of that, I was able to score a great waitressing job at a pretty high end vegetarian place that didn't serve alcohol (against the owners' religion), so that's why I was able to get the job in the first place. Tips were EXCELLENT and were the main contributor to my bag fund. I had to quit the job when I entered college, because my parents wanted me to focus on my studies (and get into med school) but they were nice enough to match my earnings in HS at my old job, so that was great. 2 years ago, I met my DH, so since then, he's been my primary source of income for bags. He doesn't really mind it though, he says my designer items keep their values better than his love and investment in electronics :) Plus he says he's "investing" in me now in hopes to get more out of it later with my MD earnings. I always laugh, knowing pretty well that my future "MD earnings" will probably go towards more bags!

I love this post! I am a college student and I work full-time. I have loved purses for as long as I can remember. In the past few years I have been spending money on designer bags, building a collection. In my collection I have:
Coach Ashley Patent Satchel
Coach wristlet and another small coach bag that can be converted to a wristlet. I do not know the names since these two gifts.
Michael Kors Selma
Michael Kors Hamilton satchel
Michael Kors large grommet wristlet.

I buy all my bags myself. I plan on buying myself a Louis Vuitton when I finish nursing school!

Louis Vuitton Papillon from my mom when I was 16

Dooney and Bourke. Nylon Satchel I bought myself when I was 19. I still have it and has sentimental value since I bought it with my Payless earnings. LOL

Burberry wallet my bf bought me for our 2nd anniversary

Michael Kors Tote my bf bought me on for our 3rd Christmas together

Burberry tote I bought for myself after getting my first real job!!

And sooooon.. Another LV Ill buy myself for my bday. It feels good knowing I can buy myself nice things! :D

I'm a junior in college and work a full time job. I pay for school, cell phone, my car payment, credit cards and insurance so I figured now is the time to spend on what I want because once I graduate I will continue to pay for college. I'm lucky I don't pay for rent (I'm transferring next Summer so I need to splurge while I can afford it), but I do pay EVERYTHING else.
My mom told me that once I had purchased my own car that I would be able to splurge on designer items without feeling guilty since I have accomplished buying a car. She was right.
I don't purchase bags every month, but I do purchase about three a year.
This year I have only purchased two. A louis Vuitton never full mm in Ebene and a Louis Vuitton Eva in the monogram. I have a bigger addiction and it is shoes: Louboutins :0! I'm the first to attend college in my family so I feel proud of myself. My parents are middle class, my boyfriend isn't rich, and I don't really get any of my bags/shoes as gifts. It's about saving and trying to find sales. Obviously LV doesn't go on sale, but seasonal loubs and Chanel does.
Cheers to those who get it handed to them, I'm jealous haha

I'm a senior in college. I've always been obsessed with bags and shoes and got my first bag at 12 as a birthday present which fueled the addiction so here goes. Most of my bags were gifts although I've been working since I was 16 in retail and now work for a fashion start up and I have a full ride to school so my parents don't have many school expenses. I'm also lucky to have a dbf who knows my love of bags and shoes and has his own shoe addiction.

Dooney and Burke (12 given as birthday present)

Burberry tote (13, from bat mitzvah money)

6 Marc by Marc's bought in high school by my parents and me

Chanel purple jumbo lambskin flap (15, bought for myself when my parents divorced)

Marc Jacobs Stam (15, Hanukkah gift)

Louis Vuitton speedy 35 (16, Hanukkah gift)

Louis Vuitton azur neverfull (18, Hanukkah gift)

Louis Vuitton ebene neverfull (19, bought with money from my summer job)

Louis Vuitton mono speedy 30b (19, bought as gift when my boyfriend got signed)

Louis Vuitton delightful mm (19, gift from parents for Hanukkah)

Balenciaga city (21, birthday present)

Tory burch tote (20, bought by dbf on trip)

I also inherited two vintage evening bags from my grandmother

Other various bags I've bought for myself:
Tory burch Reva
3 Rebecca minkoff bags
1 Kate spade
Louis Vuitton cles
Louis Vuitton wallet
Longchamp
Small coach pouchettes

I've been very lucky that my parents and dbf help me and support my handbag addiction. I do work but they prefer me to save my money and have them gift me the bags I would by for myself.

4th year student here who use to work part time that's how i could afford everything. i was always good with saving money, and then blowing it on purses. i could wear last year clothing and starve for days, but as long as my purses are kept up to date i'm a happy girl!!

now that i left my part time to focus on studies, my last bag i purchased was the prada saffiano. i purchased everything myself with a little help from my parents, which included the chanel medium 2.55, lv neverfull damier, balenciaga city, and marc jacob utika.

i don't have to pay much for rent or bills, so most of my money goes straight to gas, food, school, and leisure.

Cool thread!! I think it's quite possible for a student to afford designer goods, just need to save and focus on what you really want/need.
I'm currently taking prep courses for grad school. I've been fulltime student for a while and working part-time, fulltime occas. My addiction started not long ago, I own LV, Dior, Chanel, MK, Burberry bags and other designer stuff, just got Balenciaga. All were bought on my own money, except Jumbo flap, it was a gift for undergrad summa *** laude. I am happy not to have any debts and to save money. My plans are to study more, land a dream job, travel and buy some goodies once in a while:)

I'm in college and started my purse habit in high school. I bought some myself, while others were given as gifts from my family members or boyfriend. Currently off the top of my head, I have louis vuitton, gucci, dior, longchamp, and kate spade bags.
